August 05; Department of Zoology Government Degree College Doda accomplished successfully the arduous and burdensome task of organizing two Day National Conference on 3rd and 4th of August, the first ever national multidisciplinary conference in chenab region of J&K, on the burning theme of " Biodiversity, Climate change and Food Security for Livelihood with Multidisciplinary Approach for Sustainable Development". The conference was held under the chief patronship of Principal Secretary of Higher Education J&K Mr Rohit Kansal (IAS) and under the supervision of VC Jammu University Prof. Dr Umesh Rai, Director Colleges Higher Education Department, J&K (UT), Dr Yasmeen Ashai, Principal GDC Doda Dr Attar Singh Kotwal, President IASR Dr Sudip Barat and President CIU New Delhi Prof. Dr P. R Trivedi.
Dr Ajaz A Wani, Head Department of Zoology GDC Doda was the main person to shoulder the responsibility of acting as Organizing Secretary of the whole event. Assistant Prof. Imteyaz Ahmed, Dr Neelam Saba and Dr Muneesh rendered invaluable services of acting as co-organizing secretaries. International Academy of Science and Research (IASR) and Confederation of Indian Universies (CIU), New Delhi collaborated in organizing this conference.
Sponsorship of the event was shared by Department of Higher Education, Govt. of J&K, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), HRD, New Delhi, Science, Technology and Innovation Council, Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of J&K (UT) and J&K Bank.
Inauguration of the Conference was held on 3rd of August 2022, in community Hall Doda where Principal Secretary Higher Education Rohit Kansal was chief guest and Principal GDC Doda acted as Guest of honor along with Dr Tanmoy Rudra, Executive Security CIU, New Delhi; Captain Dr Satish Minocha, Chairman IASR, Kolkata, West Bengal; Dr R. K Bharti, Additional Deputy Commissioner Doda; Dr Kuldeep Kumar Sharma, Principal Govt. PG College Bhaderwah; Principal GDC Batote, Dr Rajesh Gupta; Mr Fayaz Ahmed Batt, Zonal Head JK Bank, Zone Doda. Program began with the welcome address by Principal GDC Doda Dr Attar Singh Kotwal. All the dignitaries, professors, scientists, research scholars, prominent citizens and students attending the session were formally welcomed with utmost hospitality.
Organizing Secretary Two Day National Conference, Dr Ajaz A Wani gave the initial remarks on "About the Conference".
Newsletter of Deptt. of Zoology for year 2021-22 was also released on the occasion. Different dignitaries also spoke on the occasion and threw light on the significance and benefits of such events.
Principal Secretary Hr. Education Department J&K, Mr Rohit Kansal (IAS) in his virtual address applauded the Dept. of Zoology GDC Doda for such a nice initiative and acknowledged that organizing such an event at a far flung place is not a cup of tea. Principal GDC Doda, Organizing Secretary and co organizing secretaries were appreciated and applauded for organizing this much needed event as scientific knowledge and temper will be promoted with this program. Dr Muneesh Thakur and Dr Neelam Saba, faculty of Zoology Deptt., coordinated the whole program. Program ended with the vote of thanks by Dr Tabassum Saleem, Astt. Prof. Deptt. of English GDC Doda.
Inaugural session was soon followed by technical sessions where 55 research scholars, faculty members and students from across India presented their papers besides more than 10 invited speakers in 7 technical session Valedictory program of the conference was held in afternoon in Community Hall of Doda on 4th of August 2022. SSP Doda Mr Abdul Qayoom acted as the chief guest. Principal GDC Doda acted as Guest of honor along with Dr Tanmoy Rudra, Executive Security CIU, New Delhi; Captain Dr Satish Minocha, Chairman IASR, Kolkata, West Bengal; Dr Noor Ali Principal GMC Doda, Ex Principal, Prof. Zaheer Abbas Hashmi and others. Report of the whole conference was presented by Organizing Secretary. Besides awarding best Poster presentation and best oral presentation awards, IASR awards announced by IASR through brochure of the conference were also given to the professors and delegates. Whole valedictory session was coordinated by Astt. Prof. Imteyaz Ahmed, Dept. of Zoology GDC Doda. The impressive technical sessions and valedictory function of the conference left indelible impressions on the hearts of arrived guests, scientists, professors, research scholars and others and they wished such conferences to be organized in future as well. During the conference college Newsletter, books by Dr.Sumit kotwal, Dr. Sarvajeet singh and Dr.Tabassum Saleem were also released . Prof. Ankush Raj was the Techinical Coordinator of the event. Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav observed at Govt. Degree College Doda.
Under the initiative of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India, Department of Computer Science, GDC Doda in collaboration with Women Development cell and Red Ribbon clum of the college organised series of activities like Nukkad natak, Essay and Painting Competion of NASHA MUKT BHART ABHIYAN UNDER AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV and under the overall supervision and guidance of Principal GDC Doda Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal on 4TH of Aug, 2022.The event started with Essay writing competition, in which more than 25 students participated and Asiya Tabassum student of 4th sem, Atiya(of 6th sem) and Atiya Tabbassum (of 4th sem) got 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize respectively. In painting Competition more than 20 students participated and Iqra(of 4th sem), Varsha kotwal (of 4th sem) and Kajal Sharma (of 4th sem) got first, second and third prize respectively. Futrhermore , students who participated in Nukkad Natak were felicitated with medals. It is pertinent to mention here that these are the series of programs organised by Prof Ankush Raj, Convener NSS and Red Ribbon Club and Dr. Anita Kotwal, Convener Women development cell. The whole event was judged by Prof Manjeet Singh, HoD English, Dr. Jagmohan Sharma and Dr. Rajesh Manhas.

Department of Computer
Science, Govt. Degree College Doda organised a week long Digital week program 2022
under the patron ship of worthy Principal Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal. The Program
was organised to aware college students and staff about digitalization and its
importance in the modern sge of technology. NSS volunteer, NCC cadets (infantry
and Navy) actively participated in this event with great enthusiasm, zeal and fervour.
On Day 1 i.e on 25th
of July, 2022, Prof. Ankush Raj HOD Computer Science in his welcome address explained
the importance of various digitalization. He awarded the audience about the various
digital services provided by the J& K UT Govt. He further awarded the
students about various digital services in education such as SWAYAM. He also highlighted
various cons digitalisation such as cybercrimes and frauds and explained how such
frauds and scams can be prevented.
On Day 1 i.e. on 26th
of July, 2022, Prof. Ankush Raj HOD Computer Science organised a workshop on
e-uNnat digital service. The event was co-organised by Dr. Sumit Kotwal, NSS
program Officer. In this workshop students and staff made aware few important
e-uNnat digital services like Income certificates, Domicile certificate and Marriage
certificate etc.
On Day 1 i.e. on 27th
of July, 2022 Prof. Ankush Raj HOD Computer Science provide a hands-on training
to students on DigiLocker digital service. In this training session, live demonstrations
were shown to audience by Prof Ankush Raj and Dr. sumit kotwal and helped them in creating their accounts in DigiLocker.
On Day 1 i.e. on 28th
of July, 2022, Prof Zain Butt delivered an extension lecture on Digital service
“Aap Ki Zameen Ap ki Nigrani”. He gave a detailed power point presentation and
explained about various Land records terminologies.
On last day of Digital
week celebration, the weeklong event successfully concluded by revisiting
important digital services. The Whole week
long event was coordinated by Prof. Ankush Raj, HOD Computer Science and Nodal Officer
Cyber Jaagrukta Diwas under the able guidance of Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal
of the college. He appreciated the
department and Digital Week committee members for organising a very informative
weeklong event on digitalization. The event was concluded by the formal vote of
thanks by Dr. Sumit kotwal, HOD EVS. The faculy members instrumental in making
the event successful were Dr. Arjun Singh CTO NCC infantry, Prof Zain Batt CTO

To celebrate Kargil Vijay Diwas and ‘Har
GharTirangaProgramme’, the NSS and NCC (Infantry
& Navy) unitsunder the aegis of IQAC and banner of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav,
organized an awareness lecture about National Flag and its code. The event was
organized under the able guidance and patronage of Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal,
Principal of the college. About 35cadets and volunteers of the college
participated in this event. The lecture was delivered byProf. Zain Batt, CTO,
NCC (Navy). Hemade the young minds aware about the history of national flag,
its code and he also, elaborated upon the protocol of hoisting national flag on
various occasions.He said that ‘Har GharTiranga’ is a campaign to encourage people to bring
the Tiranga home and to hoist it to mark the 75th year of India’s
independence.To mark this momentous occasion, the people are encouraged to
hoist the flag in their homes from 13th to 15th August,
2022. Thereafter, he spoke in detail about the great sacrifices
made by the great soldiers of our country in the Kargil war. He glorified the
exemplary and the inspirational contribution of Kargil war heroes. The event
was coordinated by Dr. Sumit Kotwal, NSSProgramme Officer of the college and
vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Arjun Singh, CTO, NCC (Infantry). Other
faculty members who attended the event included Prof. Ankush Raj (Convenor,

GDC Doda organizes ChinarPlantation Drive in
collaboration with District Administration, Doda
A Chinarplantation drive was conducted by district administration in the premises of Government Degree College, Doda. This drive was based on the theme, “Save Chinar, Save Our Heritage’. The event began with the plantation of a Chinar sapling by Sh. Vikas Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, Doda and Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal of the college.Principal of the college expressed his gratitude to the district administration for this noble initiative. The saplings were provided by Floriculture Department of the district. TheNSS volunteers and NCC (Infantry and Navy) cadets actively participated in this drive and planted around 14 Chinar saplings in the college. This plantation drive is part of the plantation being carried out by the district administration in different educational institutions of the district. The plantation drive was coordinated by Pawan Kumar (AFO, Doda), Dr. Arjun Singh (NCC CTO, Infantry),Dr. Sumit Kotwal (NSS Programme Officer) and Prof. Zain Batt (NCC CTO, Navy).Other faculty members who participated in the plantation drive included Dr. Ajaz. GDC Doda celebrates 8th International Yoga
Day under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav
NSS and NCC (Infantry & Navy) units of GDC Doda
organized yoga session to celebrate 8th International Yoga Day under
Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The event was based on the theme ‘Yoga for Humanity’.
It was organized under the able guidance and patronage of Dr. Attar Singh
Kotwal, Principal of the college. He addressed the participants on this
occasion and advised them to follow the yogic way of lifefor personality
enrichment which in turn will greatly contribute to nation building. The yoga
session started with warm up asanas (suksham vayayamas) which was followed by
various asanas under Common Yoga Protocol (CYP). Sh. Ramesh Kumar, Municipal
Counsellor Doda, a Patanjali trained Yoga Instructor, conducted the yoga
session in the college premises. He motivated the participants to adopt yoga in
daily routine for enjoying healthy and successful lifestyle. The whole proceedings
were organized in the college playground in which all the members of teaching
and non-teaching staff, NSS volunteers, NCC cadets and students participated
with great enthusiasm.The event was managed by Dr. Sumit Kotwal, NSS Programme
Officer, Dr. Arjun Singh, CTO NCC (Infantry wing) and Prof. Zain Batt, CTO NCC

One Week workshop on Basics of
Computers, Internet and Cyber Security concluded successfully by the Department
of Computer science, GDC Doda on 31st of May 2022 under the
patronship of worthy Principal Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal and coordinated by Prof
Ankush Raj, HOD Computer Science. In this workshop, participants were provided
with hands-on training of Ms Word, Ms Excel, Internet usage, MS Power Point and
Cyber Awareness. Prof Ankush Raj in his welcome address gave the detail summary
of one week workshop to the faculty and the participants present in the event.
He enlightened the audience about the importance of such workshops to enhance
their digital skills personally and professionally. Dr Ajaz A. Wani, HOD Zoology
and IQAC coordinator in his lecture motivated the participants and lauded the
department of Computer Science for organizing such a fruitful workshop for the
teaching and non teaching staff of the college. Ms. Rahat Jabeen, Teaching Assistant
Computer application also assisted Head of the department for its smooth
conclusion. Prof. Zain Butt and Dr. Jagmohan Sharma also shared their thoughts
on the occasion. Other faculty members present on this occasion were Prof

Degree College, Doda Celebrate ‘World Earth Day’
Doda:
Department of Geography in collaboration with IQAC and under the guidance of
Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal (Principal) celebrated ‘World Earth Day’ 2022 by
spreading awareness on environment conservation. On the occasion, a Special - e
- Lecture was organised by the department of Geography, which was delivered by
Dr. Tajinder Kour from Department of Geography, University of Jammu. She
discussed at length about the regimes and issues pertaining to save our planet
Earth. The theme of the event was ‘How to Invest in our Planet?’ The students
of Semester- II participated enthusiastically and some of the students
presented their ideas on the environmental issues. Among the students Insha Tabassum, Muzaffer
Ahmed, Aashish Kumar, Himani and Kashif Rasool shared their views regarding how
to invest and save our planet Earth. The students were motivated to recycle the
solid waste items at their homes to help to manage the waste at source itself.
Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal of the college applauded the faculty of
Department of Geography for conducting such an activity that provides platform
to students to bring forward their ideas and talent. The whole programme was
coordinated by Dr. Sarvjeet Singh, HOD, Geography. The programme was attended
by Prof. Babu Ram, Prof. K.K Manhas, Dr. Sumit Kotwal, Prof. Zain Batt, Prof.
Manjeet Singh, Prof. Mohd. Ashraf, Prof. Akrity Parihar and Ms. Manya Gupta and

GDC Doda organizes felicitation ceremony for
meritorious cadets and volunteers on 27th of April, 2022
The NSS unit and NCC (Infantry and Naval) wings
organized a felicitation ceremony for meritorious NCC cadets and NSS volunteers
under the aegis of IQAC. The cadets and volunteers were felicitated by Dr.
Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal of the college. He also addressed them on this
occasion and motivated them to participate in the community engagement and services
activitiesforupgrading their personality skills and at the same time earn
certificates which they will be helpful to them in the higher education set up.
The appreciation certificates received from Director, Sainik Welfare Department
were issued to the cadets and volunteers who actively participated in the
different activities organized for the welfare of Ex-Servicemen, Veer Naris and
their wards such as fundraising in Armed Forces Flag Day activity etc. The
certificates were presented to Cadet Ashish Kotwal, Cadet Joginder Singh, Cadet
Amit Thakur, Cadet Ankit Singh, Cadet Rohit Kumar and Cadet Chetan Jaral, Rahul
Singh, Ifra Batool, MankashiKatoch and Sheetal Devi. The cadets and volunteers
were identified by Dr. Sumit Kotwal, NSS Programme Officer, Prof. Zain Batt,

GDC Doda organizes an awareness camp on NEP under the
banner of
‘My School My Pride’ on 23rd of April 2022
To make the students aware about the different
attributes of New Education Policy, an awareness camp was organized at
Government Higher Secondary School (Boys), Doda under the aegis of IQAC and
banner of ‘My School My Pride’. The camp was organized under the chief
patronage and guidance of Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal of the college. It
was organized by the NSS Unit and NCC (Naval wing) of the college. In the
inaugural lecture, Prof. Zain Batt, CTO NCC (Naval wing) elaborated upon the
historical background of the NEP and its relevance in the current scenario. He
alsodeliberated upon the fundamental features of the New Education Policy. In
the subsequent session, Dr. Sumit Kotwal, NSS Programme Officer of the college
addressed the students and made them aware about the new curriculum to be
implemented in the current academic session. Besides, he spoke in detail about
the academic bank of credits and new subject combinations which can be opted in
the college. He explained about the different academic levels in school
education and higher education, entry/exit option available in the new
curriculum framework, vocational education and multidisciplinary nature of the
new education regime.Students listened to the resource persons with great
enthusiasm. The school administration expressed their extreme satisfaction in
the conduct of the event and requested the resource persons to organize more
such events in the near future.
The whole program was presided over by Principal of
the School Madam Ruby Naz. Other prominents who attended the program are Mr.
Majid Zargar, Naseem ul Haq, Zaffarullah Naik, Shabir Batt, Talib Hussain.

Week
Long Cricket Tournament (Boys) Concluded at GDC Doda
Department of Physical
Education and Sports under the Patronage of Principal Govt. Degree College Doda,
Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal and in tandem with Sports Committee of the College has organized
Intramural Cricket Competition. The chief organizer of the event was Dr. Arjun
Singh (HOD) DPE&S. The final event of the tournament was flagged off by
Prof. Babu Ram, vice Principal of the Collegeand Prof. K.K.Manhas, HOD
Education. Throughout the tournamenta total 16 number of teams in which more than
200 students participated in thisknock out tournament. The final match
wasplayed between Viv Richards 11 V/S Ab de Villiers 11. The toss was won by
Viv Richards 11 and decided to ball first. Ab de Villiers while batting first
has given a huge target of 152 runs for the loss of two wickets in 10 overs. Umer
Bilal was wreck in chief who scored 74 runs including six sixes in a single
over. Umer Shafi and Mujeeb Ur-Rehman also contributed 38 and 16 runs
respectively. While chasing the target Viv Richards 11 were bundled out at a
meager score of 79 runs in ten overs. Ravi, Hajid and Sunny were the tops scorer
of their team.
In the Post match
presentation, Man of the Match and Man of the tournament were given to Umer
Bilal and Ather Khurshed respectively. The medals werealso distributed among
the players of the winning teamand the final trophy of the tournament has given
to the winning Captain Mujeeb Ur Rehman Wani. While interacting with the team members,Convenor
Sports Committee Prof. Manjeet Singh congratulated both the teams for
displaying the spirit of Sportsmanship and the chief organizer Dr.Arjun Singh
for accomplishing this herculean task sagaciously.Dr. Jag Mohan Sharma and
Prof. Kazim, members of the Sports Committee and some students of Semester2nd&5th
namelyPawan Kotwal, Vishal, Mujeeb, Sarthak, Athar, Isharat Fayaz and Umar were
the part to organize this grand event. Jaswant Singh, Ghulam Haider and Mohd
Farooq non-teaching staff members of the college were also facilitated on this
grand occasion for their immense contribution regarding the maintenance of
ground and for other necessary arrangements.Others who were present during the
match and graced the occasion were Dr.Akhter Hussain, Dr Ravinder Rana, Dr

GDC Doda organized expert talk on Cyber Crime
Govt Degree
College Doda organised the expert lecture on Cyber Crime in Collaboration with
District Police Doda. The event was organized by Debate and Cyber jagrookta committee
of the college under the guidance and patronage of Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal,
Principal of the college. The programme began with welcome address by Dr. Ajaz
Ahmed Wani HOD Zoology and convener of the Debate committe which was followed by the expert talk by Shri
Jasvant Singh Parihar Dy.Sp headquarter Doda. He discussed in detail regarding
the social networking sites and how the hackers hack the data and how the
common people are become the victims of these cyber crimes. In his highly informative
deliberations Mr. Singh talked about Cyber Stalking, Phishing attack, Password attack,
SQL injection, Virus, Malware, Hackers, Denial of Service attack and also exposed
the purpose of motivation for cyber attack.
He also threw
light on sources of cyber threats and highly structured cyber threats. He also
stressed upon the student community to check the terms and condition of any
social networking site before joining them.Others present on the occasion were Prof.Babu
Ram, Prof. KK Manhas, Dr.Akhter Hussain, Dr.Imtiaz Ahmed, Dr.Ravinder Singh, Prof.Manjeet,

Department of zoology GDC
Doda conducted the blood group typing
of the college students.The event was organized under the patronage of
Principal Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal and under the supervision of Dr. Ajaz Ahmed
Wani Head Department of Zoology. The event was inaugurated by principal of the
college and in his brief address lauded the efforts of faculty of the
department of zoology for doing innovation subjects. Blood groups are performed
by using spanclone Ant. A+,B+ and D+(Rho) monoclonal diagnostic kit following
standard protocol This exercise was
conducted with the objective that it yield information on blood group of the
students and can be used by blood donation societies for collection of blood
and students also need the same on their Identity Card and on Admission form.
Besides, in case of emergency provide rare blood groups transfusion facility to
the patient who are in need of such groups. The other faculty members present
in the inaugural session was Prof. Babu
Ram, Mr.Rakesh Kumar(Asst.Prof.Physics)
Mr.Imtiaz Ahmed(Asst.Prof.Zoology) Dr, MohdAslam and Dr. Muneesh Kumar.

Under the initiative of the Govt. of India, Department of Computer Science, GDC doda organised a seminar under the aegis of IQAC and under the overall supervision of Principal GDC Doda Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal on 31 March 2022.The title of the seminar was ‘Cyber Risks associated with varied online activities''. Seminar began with the welcome address of Prof. Ankush Raj HOD Computer Science Department and Nodal Officer Cyber Awareness Program. This was followed by a detailed lecture through a PowerPoint presentation, he threw a detailed light on day to day crimes pertaining to online activities through the use of mobile devices, security issues and privacy. He discussed in detail various cyber crimes like internet calling, phishing, hacking, spoofing, cyber theft, cyber bullying etc. and suggested measures of safety from such frauds and blackmailing. On this occasion College students namely Mehraab Farooq and vivek Thakur from BCA 2nd sem also enlightened the students about cyber threats pertaining to online shopping and payments. The seminar ended with the formal vote of thanks by Prof. Mohd Ashraf, organising secretary Cyber Awareness Program. Prof. Amit Kumar from the department economics and Miss Rahat Jabeen, Teaching Assistant Computer Science Department also attended the seminar. It is pertinent to mention here that these are the series of programs organised by the department and will be organised in future as well.

National Science Day
28-02-2022.The NSS Unit, Green Rangers Ecoclub and Department of Botany organized one day Plantation Drive in thecollege campus in collaboration with forest department under the aegis of IQAC of the institution. The eventbegan with the plantation of a Deodar sapling byDr. Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal of the college and Adil Shan, Range Officer (HQ), Doda.He impressed upon the role of students as environmental messengers and urgent need of saving this green gold for future generations.He appreciated the role of Conservator of forests, Chenab Circle for hisever-available noble support for plantation activitiesby the college administration. The faculty membersalongwithvolunteersof the NSS unit and ecoclubactively participated in this drive and planted about 30 saplings of Deodar along the circumference of college playground and botanical garden. Dr. Sumit Kotwal, NSS Programme Officer of the college and Dr. TasirSharief, Head,Department of Botany located the sites for plantation in the college campus in close co-operation with the staff of forest department.Dr. Aijaz Ahmed Wani, IQAC coordinator of the college shared the importance of national science day with the students.NSS volunteers and members of the college ecoclub participated with great enthusiasm in the event. 5 Days training programme on ‘BCD&DM’ concludes at GDC,
Doda.
Earlier, Prof. Zain Batt, CTO, NCC ( Naval Wing) , GDC, Doda detailed the aims and objectives of the programme. He said that building capacity is an important component of Disaster Management for all. He also said that theoretical knowledge gives basic idea of the subject matter however practical knowledge is most essential to get first-hand knowledge and experience of disaster preparedness and providing first aid at the time of any incident is important to save lives. The report of the 5- day programme was presented by Instructor, Mohammad Irfan of Civil Defense , Doda. SDRF Master Trainers, Abdul Qayoom, Ghulam Nabi Wani and Muhammad Irfan conducted training sessions and a mock drill on fire fighting and evacuation, besides training on Basic Life Support, First Aid and CPR. The whole training program was coordinated by Prof. Babu Ram, HOD, Chemistry, Dr. Sumit Kotwal, HOD, Environmental Science, Dr. Arjun Singh, CTO, NCC ( Infantry) and Prof. Zain Batt, CTO, NCC ( Naval Wing) . Vijay Diwas celebrated at GDC Doda
Doda Dec 16: NCC (Naval) and ( Infantry ) Wings of the Govt. Degree College , Doda organized a program in connection with the celebration of Vijay Diwas on 16th December, 2021. The program was organized under the guidance and patronship of Principal of the College Prof. (Dr.) Attar Singh Kotwal and under the aegis of IQAC, GDC, Doda. It is pertinent to mention here that India celebrates Vijay Diwas every year on December 16th to commemorate its victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war, which led to the creation of Bangladesh.
The program started with the introductory lecture delivered by Prof. Zain Batt, ANO/CTO , NCC (Naval Wing ) GDC, Doda. It was followed by a motivational lecture by Prof. Babu Ram, HOD ( Chemistry) .He also enlightened them about the past wars fought by Indian Armed forces .Dr. Arjun Singh, ANO/CTO , NCC ( Infantry) also addressed the cadets and students. Dr. Jagmohan Sharma presented vote of thanks. On this occasion Dr. Ajaz A. Wani,Prof. K K. Manhas , and other staff members were also present.
The cadets who participated in the program are Sofia, Tina, Neesha , Sumiya, Neena , Simran, Jagdeep , Bikey and Vicky . The whole program was coordinated by Cadet Ashish Kotwal of NCC (Naval Wing) , GDC, Doda.

NSS Unit GDC Doda organizes activities under Clean India Programme

The NSS unit of Government Degree College, Doda organized
series of cleanliness drives to clean springs and rivers of Chenab valley under
clean India Program w.e.f. 1st December to 15th December, 2021 under
the banner of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
The drive was flagged off by Principal of the
college, Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal. He interacted with the volunteers and
encouraged them to actively participate in this Clean India program for
cleaning neighboring villages and water bodies(springs and rivers).The
volunteers undertook the awareness cum cleanliness drive in the village Nalwa(covering
2 water springs), Ghat-Doda road (covering 1 spring) and Khellani Nala Road
(covering 2 springs).Also, the tourist point at Puldoda (confluence of river
Chenab and Neeru stream) was also cleaned and volunteers interacted with the
employees of the tourism department. They,further, interacted with the locals
and made them aware about the importanceof preservation of water bodies.
The work of NSS volunteers was appreciated by locals
of the village. The entire program was supervised by Prof. Ankush Raaj, Convenor,
NSSCommittee and Dr. Sumit Kotwal, NSS Programme officer of the college. Prof.
Babu Ram, HoD Chemistry, Prof. K.K. Manhas, HoD Education and Dr. Anita Kotwal,
HoD philosophy also participated in different cleanliness activities. The cleanliness
drive was supported bymembers of Green Rangers Ecoclub of the college and the
cadets of NCC (Infantry) and NCC (Naval Wing) under the guidance of Dr. Arjun

Navy Day
,2021 celebrated in Govt. Degree College, Doda.
The NCC ( Naval Wing), Government Degree College, Doda celebrated the National Navy Day Under the guidance and patronage of Principal of the College Prof. (Dr.) Attar Singh Kotwal and under the aegis of IQAC, GDC, Doda. It is pertinent to mention here that Navy Day in India is observed on December 4 every year to recognize the role and achievements of the Indian Navy. The day was chosen to commemorate the launch of Operation Trident against Pakistan during the Indo-Pakistan War in 1971
The Programme started with the introductory lecture on the National Navy Day by Prof. Zain Batt, ANO/ CTO, NCC (Naval Wing) , GDC, Doda . It was followed by a motivational lecture by Dr. Ajaz A. Wani, Coordinator, IQAC, GDC, Doda. The Program wasc attended by Prof. Ankush Raj, HOD Computer Science and Prof. K K Manhas, HOD Education.
The Navy Cadets also addressed the audience where students, NCC (Infantry) Cadets and NSS Volunteers of the college attended the program. The program culminated with the NCC song presented by Naval Cadets. The whole program was coordinated by Cadet Captain Joginder Singh
Before this program, the Naval Cadets also participated in Campus Cleanliness Drive to celebrate the Navy Day.

National Constitution Day celebrated at GDC Doda
Doda ; Nov 27: Government Degree College Doda celebrated the National Constitution Day to mark the occasion of adoption of constitution by the people of India.
All the students Principal and staff members of the college took a pledge on the occasion to maintain the equality, fraternity, sovereignty, integrity of the nation.
Earlier Prof. (Dr.) Attar Singh Kotwal,the Principal of the college spoke at length instilling students the importance and purpose of celebration of National Constitution Day, He also advised the students to take part in the associated activities which would be performed in near future. GDC Doda celebrates Communal Harmony Week under Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav
To celebrate Communal Harmony Week under Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav, a week-long celebration was organized under the chief patronage and guidance of Dr Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal of the college. The event was coordinated by Red Cross Committee of the college, NSS Unit and NCC (Army & Naval wing). In this celebration series of events were organized from 19-11-2021 to 25-11-2021, for sensitizing the students, teachers and the local community regarding communal harmony and national integration. On the first day of the celebration (20-11-2021), a pledge taking ceremony was organized in the college campus. Prof. Preeti Devi, Convener, College Red Cross Committee administered communal harmony oath to the students, NSS volunteers and NCC cadets. The second day of the celebration included an essay writing event which was organized by the Red Cross Committee. The event was judged by Dr Ravinder Singh, Assistant Professor (Botany) and Prof. Zain Batt (CTO, NCC Naval wing). The best three essays were shortlisted for sending to National Foundation for Communal Harmony. On the third day of celebration (23-11-2021), a poster making event was organized in the college in which 10 students participated and presented their thoughts on communal harmony. An awareness rally on communal harmony and national integration was organized on the 4th day of the event (24-11-2021) in which students and their mentors went around the surroundings of college premises for promotion of national integration and unity in diversity. On the 5th day of the event, National Flag day was observed in the college in which teaching and non-teaching staff, students of different semesters, NSS volunteers and NCC cadets participated enthusiastically and generously funded for the cause of orphans and children affected by violence. Also, a concluding session was organized on the last day of the event. The session was coordinated by Prof. Zain Batt (CTO, NCC Wing). Ms. Ifra Batool, Mr. Rashid shabir, Mr Nitan Singh and Basit Ajaz, the students of 5th semester, presented their thoughts on communal harmony on this occasion. The gathering of students and faculty members was addressed by Prof. Babu Ram, Vice-Principal of the college. He motivated them to follow the principles of unity in diversity in their daily routine for the progress of our nation. World Remembrance Day for Road traffic victims
observed at GDC Doda
under Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav
The
NSS Unit and NCC (Army and Naval) wing of GDC Doda in collaboration with IQAC
observed World Remembrance Day for road traffic victims under the patronage and
able guidance of Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal of the college. The
programme begun with the Inaugural address by Principal of the college. He
administered road safety pledge to the staff and students and deliberated upon
the need of practical application of the road safety knowledge being imparted
in the college education system. He,further, motivated them to obey all the
traffic rules for the greater good of youth, society and the nation. Thereafter,
he flagged off an awareness rally which ran through vicinity of the college premises
wherein the NSS volunteers and NCC cadets conducted an awareness drive
regarding road traffic rules. The awareness rally was led by Dr Sumit Kotwal,
NSS Programme Officer and Mr. Zain Batt, NCC CTO (Naval wing). About 50 volunteers
and cadets participated in this drive. They made the general commuters aware
about the important road safety rules and etiquettes like wearing of seat
belts, helmets, avoiding wrong parking, over speeding and unnecessary honking
on the roads.The rally ended in the college premises.

Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day-2021) celebrated at GDC Doda on 31st October, 2021
To
commemorate the 146th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel,
Rashtriya Ekta Pledge taking ceremony was organized in online mode under the
able guidance and patronage of Dr Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal of the college.
About 30 volunteers and cadets took pledge to preserve the unity, integrity and
security of the nation and also resolved to make their make their contribution
for the internal security of the country. The event began with introduction
about the event by Prof Zain Batt, CTO NCC Naval wing. He emphasized upon the
role of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (Iron Man of India) in the unification of our
diverse nation. Dr Sumit Kotwal, NSS Programme Officer, administered oath to
the volunteers and cadets of the college. Dr Arjun Singh, CTO NCC Infantry wing
motivated youth to play their part for preserving the internal security of the
country. The objective of celebrating this day is to maintain the nation's unity
and to spread awareness about contributions of this great man to Indian
history.

The Govt. Degree College , Doda organized Cleanliness Drive under Clean India Program from 22nd of Oct. to 23rd of Oct. 2021 .The main purpose of this programme was to create awareness among the students regarding Cleanliness and its benefits.
Under this programme, the NCC Navy , NCC Infantry Cadets and NSS volunteers of the college participated . Even teachers were the essential part of this drive. As a part of this Cleanliness Drive, the whole college campus was cleaned and Wastes collected were disposed off properly .
Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal , Principal of the college started the programme by cleaning the corners of the play ground. Then the teachers and students followed suit. Some of the students did the dusting of the rooms.And others went to the play ground and started picking wrappers lying scattered there. After collecting them they threw them in to the dustbins. After doing this job for two to three hours, the Cadets assembled at the main playground of the college and an awareness programme was organised in which Prof. Zain Batt , NCC (Naval Wing ) , CTO addressed the students and talked about the main theme of the event and the importance of cleanliness .On the second and last day of the program , the students did the cleanliness of the garden area of the college and the event got concluded with the awareness program addressed by Dr. Sumit Kotwal , NSS Programme Officer .

GDC Doda organizes a UT Level Poshan Abhiyan
Quiz under Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav
07-09-2021: The NSS Unit of GDC Doda on the occasion of National Nutrition
Week organized a "Poshan Abhiyan Quiz" under the patronage and
able guidance of Dr. Shafqat H. Rafiqi, Principal of the college. In order to
bring nutrition to the centre-stage of the National Development Agenda,
Government of India launched Poshan Abhiyaan, a multi-ministerial convergence
mission with a vision to address malnutrition in children, women and
adolescents. Further, to ensure community mobilisation and bolster people’s
participation, every year the month of September is celebrated as
Rashtriya Poshan Maah across the country. This quiz event is part of the 4th
Rashtriya Poshan Maah and Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav being observed all over the
country. About 150 students from various colleges of the Union Territory
participated in the quiz. The quiz was organized to provide valuable insights
about the right nutrients required to make our body fit and fine. It was
organized using the google form quiz platform and the e-certificates were
issued by using certify’em feature.

Doda ::GDC Doda celebrates the 75th Independence day on 15th
of August, 2021 in the college campus with enthusiasm and patriotic fervor
strictly following Covid-19 SOP's . The festivity commenced with a brief introduction
of the occasion by Dr. Akhtar Hussain (HOD, Urdu ) . It was followed by the
hoisting of National flag by Chief Guest Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi , Principal
GDC, Doda which was accompanied by the singing of the
National Anthem by students of GDC Doda
and March-Past by Cadets of NCC (Infantry ) , NCC (Naval Wing) and NSS . Dr.
Rafiqi in his address to the gathering spoke about the sacrifices of the people of India for over two centuries
to attain freedom from the British colonial
Rule. He lauded the efforts of
independent India in the field of science and technology, medicine, education,
industries at the global level. He advised faculty and students to use our
freedom for a better tomorrow . In his speech he, brought forth some nostalgic memories
of Independence Day Celebration. The programme was attended by all Faculty
members of the college. The programme include
cultural items by the Students showcasing the culture of our country ,
it was followed by prize distribution to
the students who participated in a series of events Under Azadi ka Amrut
Mahotsav India@75 . Moreover, IQAC/NAAC team members Dr. Ajaz A Wani, Prof.
Ankush Raj, Dr. Aslam, Dr. Sumit Kotwal, Prof
Imtiaz Ahmed and Dr Tasir Sharief were appreciated and felicitated by
worthy Principal for their hardwork and dedication in NAAC accredidation. The
program ended with Vote of thanks by Prof. Zain Batt , CTO NCC (Naval Wing ),
GDC , Doda . The whole proceedings of the program was conducted by Dr. Akhter
Hussain (HOD , Urdu ) and Dr. Sumit Kotwal , NSS Programme officer , GDC , Doda
. All the norms of social distancing and
wearing masks were taken while holding celebrations.

GDC Doda organizes Cleanliness Drive under Azadi ka Amrut
Mahotsav
Doda: As a part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ India@75, a
special cleanliness drive was organized by NCC (Naval Wing) and NSS Unit, GDC
Doda, under the supervision and guidance of, Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi,
Principal of the college. The cadets went around the college to collect the
garbage and dumped the same in the colour coded dustbins. Mr. Zain Batt CTO,
NCC (Naval Wing), Dr. Sumit Kotwal, Programme Officer, NSS and Dr. Arjun Singh,
CTO, NCC, (Infantry) also participated in the cleanliness drive along with
students. The cleanliness drives are a regular feature in the institution to
keep the college campus clean and green and to develop a sense of fundamental
duty among the students. All NCC Cadets and NSS Volunteers participated with
great enthusiasm in the event.

Doda
: Under the aegis of "Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav", NCC Naval Unit and NSS of GDC Doda honoured the martyrs
of Kargil War to commemorate the Kargil Vijay Diwas. Every year ,26th
of July is celebrated as Kargil Vijay Diwas to pay homage to all those who lost
their lives in Kargil protecting our nation .
A
Virtual programme was organized on the Google Meet Platform in which Mr. Zain
Batt , CTO , Naval Wing , GDC ,Doda delievered a detailed lecture on the Kargil
Vijay Divas , Operation Vijay and Operation Safed Sagar . The Cadets of Naval
wing also actively participated by
presenting Poetry recitation in the honour of matryed soldiers of Kargil War .
Dr. Sumit Kotwal , NSS Programme Officer , GDC , Doda also address the
participants and stress on taking inspiration from the valour of Armed forces
of our country .

1st july,2021:
The NCC , Naval Unit , Govt. Degree College , Doda organised
an activity on National Doctors’ Day. In
India , every year, Ist July is observed as National Doctors’ Day in the memory
of legendary physician and second Chief Minister of West Bengal Dr. Bidhan
Chandra Roy , who had his birth and death anniversary on the same day. The day,
commemorated by Indian Medical Association (IMA), is dedicated to all the
doctors and healthcare workers who have been serving people by risking their
lives. So an activity, “Message of Gratitude” was organised.
The Cadets were asked to express their gratitude towards
doctors by sharing their comments , message and Videos . Students enthusiastically shared their
ideas, views and comments . They also prepared a video message and sent their
wishes to the doctors on this special day.Later their messages and videos were
sent to doctors and healthcare workers of
Doda .Also a meeting was
organized on Google Meet to discuss the SOP's of COVID-19 .

Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi , Principal of the college,
lauded the efforts of college staff and volunteers and emphasised upon the
importance of such events. He also highlighted the importance of doctors in our
lives. He also said doctors are responsible for increased life expectancy and
improved well-being in society and though doctors have always played a
significant role in the lives of individuals and society as a whole the current
pandemic has bought the significance of their role to the forefront. Like a
soldier during wartime doctors have gone beyond the call of duty working
non-stop to save lives risking their own, especially our government doctors.

GDC doda got nominated under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan(UBA) at National Level, The Intimation for the same was recieved from the Minsitry of Human Resourse Development, Govt of India.
DODA: In order to commemorate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav - (75 years of India's Independence) and to celebrate World Environment Day-2021, Green Rangers Eco-Club of the Department of Environmental Sciences organized an online symposium in collaboration with the Department of Zoology and Botany, under the able guidance and patronage of Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi, Principal of the college. The event was based on the theme "Ecosystem Restoration" proposed by United Nations.
A keynote lecture was delivered by Dr. Tasir Sharief, HoD Botany. He stressed upon the need of individual efforts in the global mission of Ecological Restoration. Students from different colleges enthusiastically participated in the event.
The symposium as evaluated on the basis of originality of content, presentation and motivational skills.
The event was adjudicated by Prof. Imteyaz Ahmed, Prof. Akrity Parihar. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd position was secured by Ifra Wani, Atiya Tabassum and Adil Qayum, respectively.
Dr. Ajaz Ahmed Wani (IQAC Coordinator and HoD Zoology) delivered the valedictory address. He motivated them to plant trees in their vicinity and play their role to protect the pristine ecology of hilly regions.
The event concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Sumit Kotwal (HoD, Environmental Sciences and NSS Programme Officer). Prof. Purnima Manhas and Prof. Syed Kazim also attended the event.

21-05-2021.
An essay writing competition was organized by Internal Quality Assurance cell
(IQAC), GDC Doda in collaboration with Department of Computer Sciences. This is
in continuation to series of activities to celebrate the 75 years of Indian
independence. “Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav” is an initiative of the Government of
India to celebrate and commemorate the 75 years of progressive India and the
glorious history of its people, culture and achievements. The competition was
based on the theme “Unity in diversity”. Many students from the Union territory
of J&K and other parts of the country participated in this online event.
The event was organized under the patronage of Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi,
Principal of the college. The event was coordinated by Dr. Ajaz Ahmed Wani,
IQAC Coordinator of the college and Prof. Ankush Raj, HoD Computer Sciences.
Dr. Sumit Kotwal, HoD Environmental Sciences played a pivotal role in the
organization of this event. The essays were judged by prof .Manjeet
Singh, department of English, Dr. Tasir
Sharief HOD Botany. The merit
certificates were issued to the students namely Nazmeen Shoket 2nd sem. of Ramjas
college of Delhi university (ist position), Adeeba Roof 6th sem .of Govt.SP
college Srinagar (2nd position ) and Atif Raja 6th sem.of GDC Doda (3rd

Apr 19, 2021: Principal GDC Doda Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi inaugurated the UGC-NSQF approved skill based courses in the Dept. of Zoology GDC Doda on 19-04-2021 in the presence of faculty of Zoology Dept. comprising Head Dept. of Zoology Dr Ajaz A Wani, Asstt. Prof. Imteyaz Ahmed, Dr Neelam Saba and Dr Munish Thakur.
Principal along with other staff of GDC Doda congratulated the Dept. of Zoology for getting the honor of starting these UGC NSQF approved skill courses in the field of dairy farming, apiculture and poultry farming .
This is one of the unique and much needed step taken in any college of the Jammu division of the UT of J&K particularly at the time when skill development approach is highly focused at global level including in India.
This will boost skill development in Chenab region and around. As there is a huge scope for the sectors of Dairy, Poultry and Apiculture in Chenab region because of huge demand; the courses will definitely go a long way in meeting the gap between supply and demand here in the long run. Besides Principal interacted with guest faculty recruited for running these courses.

Govt. Degree College Doda in collaboration with National
Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) Jammu, Main Campus
University of Jammu inaugurated Computer Skill Course titled as “Certification
course in Data Entry and Office Automation”.
With an objective not to produce the graduates only but to produce skilled graduates the Principal Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi with his gracious presence inaugurated the course and Prof Ankush Raj, Nodal officer/Course Coordinator welcome the students with very warm welcome address and them full guidance and support. For the course a batch of 36 students have been registered on first come first serve basis. The duration of the course will be 135 notional hours.It is pertinent to mention here that Govt. Degree College has signed an MOU with NIELIT Jammu for the said course. Mr. Vikar Sareen is the course trainer appointed by NIELIT Jammu.
Prof. Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi, Principal of the college motivated all the students registered for the course and wished them for their bright future. On the occasion Prof Ankush Raj (HoD Computer Science), Nodal officer of the course, Dr. Ajaz A Wani (HOD Zoology), Prof. K K Manhas (HoD Education), Mr. Joginder Singh, Assistant Lecturer (Computer Applications) and Ms.Priyanka Sharma, Assistant Lecturer (Computer Applications) were also present.

An online workshop on “Internet and its applications” was organized by the Training and Placement Cell of Government Degree College, Doda. The event was organized under the mentorship of Worthy Principal of the college, Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqui. About 40 college students of 1st, 3rd and 5th Semesters, joined the event to make themselves aware about the various job opportunities in the corporate sector. Prof. Ankush Raj, Head, Department of Computer Applications was invited as Resource person for the event. He has vast teaching experience both at the Undergraduate and Postgraduate level. The resource person familiarized the students about the vast applications of internet and also, made them aware about various job oriented and higher education websites. The websites included Swayam portal, JKSSB and JKPSC etc. The participants enthusiastically participated in event and cleared their doubts about these websites. The event was organized by Dr. Sumit Kotwal, Convenor, Training and Placement Cell, GDC Doda. The event was conducted under the supervision by Prof. Bashir Ahmed (District Coordinator, Career Counselling-Cum-Psychosocial and Placement Cell, Doda).

Dr Ajaz Ahmed Wani, Head of Department of Zoology Government Degree College Doda has been awarded with Doctor of Literature (D.Lit) by United Nations University for Global Peace USA in a convention held at Kolkata on December 19.
The event was jointly organised by International Benevolent Research Foundation, Academy of Universal Global Peace USA and United Nations University for Global Peace USA.
It is pertinent to mention here that with this achievement, he has become first person from the Chenab Region to be awarded with this award. He has published 24 research papers in both peer reviewed national and international journals particular lockdown.

on 18-19 Jan. 2020.The award which consists of a memento and shawl was

order to bridge the gap between the alumni and their Alma mater and to inspire
the students of the college the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Govt Degree
College Doda organised Alumni Meet 2019 on 11 December. The meet was organised
under the supervision of Dr Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi, Principal GDC Doda. The
main function was held in the seminar hall of the college and was attended by
more than one hundred alumni. It is pertinent to mention here that GDC Doda was
established in the year 1989 and its alumni hold important positions in
government as well as private sector.

A Combined Graduate level examination 2013 (CGL 13) was conducted by the Staff Selection Commission New Delhi on 21-4-2013 under the supervision of principal GDC Doda and Prof Z.A. Hashmi at GDC DODA. where number of students from states other than J&K also participated.
Doda is one of the districts of J&K. The district covers a total area of 11,691 sq.km. It is considered to be the 3rd largest district in the state with respect to its land area, the first two being Leh and Kargil.

Doda::The anniversary of Surgical Strike Day was celebrated as
Parakram Parv at GDC Doda today. Under the overall supervision of Dr
Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi Principal GDC Doda. The celebrations started
with a special parade by the NCC Naval and Army Wing under the command
of ANOs Prof Babu Ram and Dr Jamsheed Ahmad. After the parade the
students took a pledge of their support to the armed forces of the
country. On this occasion motivational speeches by NCC officers
were delivered.The highlights of the celebrations were the patriotic
songs sung by the cadets and screening of the movie Lakshya. The
proceeding of the programme was conducted by Naval Wing senior under
officer Danish Banday.

Joint Secretary UGC along with Director Colleges, Higher education J&K visits Govt Degree Doda
Joint Secretary University Grants Commission New Delhi Dr Urmila Devi along with Director Colleges Jammu and Kashmir Dr Zahoor Ahmed Chatt and Director Planning Higher Education Department visited GDC Doda.
The team of the officers was formally received and welcomed by the principal of the college Dr Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi. They were given a guard of honour by the NCC cadets of the college.
In this address the principal apprised the team about the student enrollment, staff profile and start of PG classes in college. He expressed his satisfaction about the academic and co curricular atmosphere of the institution. He further informed the team about the lack of infrastructure and demanded that atleast six classrooms and an auditorium should be constructed at earliest.
During her interaction with the faculty of the college Dr Urmila Devi emphasized on the need of boarding and lodging facilities especially for the girl students. She laid stress on the introduction of the latest teaching pedagogies and advised the faculty to acquaint the students with the latest developments happening across the globe.
Later on the team along with the principal visited the different departments of the college and expressed their satisfaction on the maintenance of a clean and green campus. They appreciated the principal and assured all possible support and cooperation.

Guidance/Career Counseling Cell in collaboration with Debate/Seminar Committee of GDC Doda organised an extension lecture on the theme 'Career in Civil Services'. Zuhaib Hassan (DySP Traffic Doda-Kishtwar Axis) and Nayeem Ahmed (Tehsildar Land Records Regional Director Office Doda) delivered detailed lectures on the given topic. The brain storming lectures were followed by an interactive question-answer session with the students of the college. Principal GDC Doda Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi was the chief guest and Dr Jamsheed Ahmad conducted the proceedings of the event. In his address the Principal of the college thanked the resource persons and assured the students that more programmes shall be organised in future. He further congratulated the faculty of the college for this initiative. Formal Vote of Thanks was presented by Prof. Ashraf Hussain. The extension lecture was a part of the series of awareness and counselling programmes which are regularly organised by the college for the personality development of the students.

GDC Doda Celebrates World Environment Day, 5th June, 2018
One day symposium and painting competition on the theme “Plastic Waste-Reuse it or Refuse it” was organised at Govt. Degree College, Doda on the occasion of World Environment Day, 2018. The day began with the cleanliness drive which was conducted within the college campus with the help of students. The NCC and NSS volunteers of the college also participated in this drive. The programme began with the welcome address by Dr. Sumit Kotwal, Head, Department of Environmental Sciences, GDC, Doda (Organizing Secretary of the event). He apprised the audience about main theme and significance of the event. He stressed upon the individual attention and action for the management of plastic waste. It was followed by invited lectures by Dr. Aijaz Ahmed Wani (HoD, Department of Zoology) and Dr. Tasir Sharief (Head, Department of Botany). Students of the college made detailed deliberations on the problem of plastic waste and suggested various remedial measures for the redressal of this grave environmental concern.
The students also highlighted various environmental hazards in their paintings. Dr. Aijaz Ahmed Wani, Prof. Falak, Dr. Akhter Hussain and Dr. Sumit Kotwal acted as Jury for the Symposium competition while Prof. K.K. Manhas, Dr. Wahid Khawar Balwan, Prof. Rakesh Kumar and Dr. Tasir Sharief judged the painting event. Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqui, Principal of the college and Chief Guest on the occasion, stressed upon the role of youth in achieving sustainable development goals. He also motivated the students of the college to come forward and fulfil the dreams of their parents. He also emphasized upon the role of young minds in shaping the future of country. At the conclusion of the event, prizes were distributed among the winners. 1 st , 2 nd and 3 rd prizes in Symposium event were bagged by Ms. Purvashi Rana Mr. Mumtaaz Hussain, and Mr. Nawaz Hussain, respectively. Similarly, in painting event, the prizes were won by Ms. Alima Suhrawardy, Mr. Irfan Ahmed and Mr. Amir Hussain, respectively.

Prof. R. D. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu today visited Govt. Degree College Doda. The Vice Chancellor was extended warm welcome by the Principal, staff and students of the college and also offered guard of Honor under the supervision of NCC Officer Prof. Babu Ram.
The visit was marked by a grand event and a lecture by the Vice Chancellor to the students of the college on the growing relevance of Moral values.
The Vice Chancellor also interacted with the students and staff of the college. During the interaction, the Vice Chancellor was apprised of all the issues being faced by the college. Prof. Sharma also responded to the various queries posed by the students during the interactions. On this occasion, the Principal of the College also gave a brief overview of the college.
The Vice Chancellor applauded the work and efforts of the Principal, the faculty and the students and delivered a brainstorming lecture. The entire faculty of the college and students were present at the event. The college and the civil society hailed the maiden visit of Prof. R.D. Sharma as a glorious moment for the college.
Earlier, the welcome address was offered by the Principal of the college Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi, the programme was coordinated by Prof. Zain ul Abideen Banday, managed by Dr.Wahied Khawar Balwaan and vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed Bhallesi.

1) Programme on Digital Launch of RUSA at GDC, Doda
Govt degree college doda organised a program to witness the digital launch of RUSA Website under the able guidance of Dr. R K Raina,Principal GDC Doda. The Rashtriya Uchatar Shiksha Abhiyan(RUSA), under the aegis of the ministry of Human Resource Development launched its online portal and mobile app toady on April 17, 2017 by HRD minster Shri Prakash Javadekar. The launch was witnessed by Dr. N K Raina, Principal GDC doda,Prof. babu ram ,Prof. Yasar Arafat, Prof. Mohd Ashraf, Prof. Ankush Raj,Prof. Bashir Ahmed , Prof Ashwani kumar and students. Prof. Ankush Raj and Prof. Mohd. Ashraf organised and coordidated this program in the college's Seminar Hall. Prof Shayaan Javeed from the institute of Mountain Environment University of Jammu (Bhaderwah campus) was the resource person and the topic of the lecture was ‘General Economics: An Overview’.
