      Department of Zoology GDC Doda awared students of  Govt. Hr. Sec. School Trown about Tuberculosis

      Department of Zoology Govt.Degree College Doda, under the headship of Principal Investigator of project entitled "Study, Knowledge , Survey and Awareness on Tb in Chenab Region of J&K"  Dr.Ajaz Ahmed Wani, and in  presence of Co-PI, Mr. Imteyaz Ahmed  and Dr.Muneesh Kumar from Dept. of Zoology GDC Doda; organised an extension lecture on Tuberculosis at Govt.Higher Higher Secondary School Trown Doda on  26/11/22. The extension lecture cum workshop was based on awareness regarding Tuberculosis (TB). This awareness is a part of aforesaid research project  sponsored by Science Technology and Innovation Council, Department of Science and Technology, Govt.of Jammu and Kashmir, with the aim to eliminate the TB from Chenab Region of J&K. Honourable Prime Minister of India has set the target of 2025 for Tb elimination from India and this workshop is an effort in this direction. 
      The workshop was of interactive type where students also spoke on TB. This was followed by detailed lecture on the significance and need of  awareness regarding Tb by Mr. Imteyaz Ahmed, Co-Principal investigator of this research project. Dr Wani also spoke at length regarding this disease and Nikshay Poshan yojna started by Govt.of India for the Tuberculosis patients. He advised the students to report such cases of TB to the district Tuberculosis control room for the proper treatment .He also advised students to work hard and fullfill the expectation of parents and to remain away from drugs and other social evils.The appreciation certificates were presented to the winning  participants. An appreciation certificate was also given to the Head of the Institution for exceptional support and management. Incharge  Principal of School Mr Mohd Farooq in his vote of thanks appreciated the efforts of Zoology dept. of GDC Doda for this initative and extended sincere and heartiest gratitude to the Principal GDC Doda Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal for sparing the time of faculty members of his institute to visit this far flung Higher Secondary School and spread needed awareness. Heartiest gratitude was also wished to the visiting team of faculty of zoology Deptt.of GDC Doda.The other faculty members present on the occasion were Mr. Anoop Kumar Lect (Zoology), Mohd Rafi Teacher, Hafiz Sheikh Lect English, John Mohd Lect Pol. Science and others. Mr Dushyant Kumar Lect Physics, coordinated the whole program.

    After completing his three-month Pre Commission Course (PRCN) course at the NCC Officer’s Training Academy (OTA), Kamptee, Nagpur, Maharashtra recently, he has been appointed as an Associate NCC officer (ANO) in the district and will train NCC  cadets. These 3 months include 15 days of Distance Learning Programme (DLP) .  He was also Awarded with Commandant 's Bronze Medal for Excellence. An Assistant Professor at the Department of Political Science in Government Degree College Doda  . Mr. Zain  had been performing the duties of NCC caretaker in the college for the last one year However, after developing interest in the NCC workings, he aspired to join the services as an officer. He said during one year of additional duty of NCC caretaker he learnt many things and groomed himself to join the services. Later, after rounds of selection procedures in the month of November, 2021 he was selected for the training and after the 75-days training at OTA from 13th August  to  22th October 2022, this year, he received the rank after Passing Out Parade (POP) at OTA Kamptee, Nagpur .

    Under the initiative of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India, Department of Computer ScienceGDC Doda in collaboration with Red Ribbon club of the college organised series of activities like debate competition and essay writing competition of NASHA MUKT BHART ABHIYAN UNDER AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV and under the overall supervision and guidance of Principal GDC Doda Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal on 19-of Sep, 2022. The theme of the event was “SAY NO TO DRUGS”. Dr. Attar kotwal, Principal GDC Doda in his speech aware the students regarding the menace of drugs in our society and appreciated Prof. Ankush Raj, Convener Nasha Mukt Abhiyan and HOD Computer Sciences for organising such beneficial events in the college campus. The event started with debate competition in which more than 10 students delivered their speech and in Essay writing competition more than 25 students participated. It is pertinent to mention here that these are the series of programs organised by Prof Ankush Raj who is also the Convener of NSS, Red Ribbon Club. The whole event was judged by Dr Anita Kotwal, HoD Philosophy, Prof. Mohd Ashraf, HoD history and Dr. Rajesh Manhas. The event was concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Akhter Hussain

     Under initiatives of Govt. of India and IQAC initiative Department of Computrer Science GDC Doda organised a seminar on “Cyber Security and Laws”. Under the overall guidance and supervision of worthy Principal, Dr Attar Singh Kotwal, the event was started. Prof. Ankush Raj, HOD Computer Science Department presented the welcome address to all the participants and gave an overview on Cyber Security and Laws and its impact on society. More than fourty college students attended the seminar and about ten students gave their powerpoint presentations on the said topic. Mr. Danishwer, BCA 1st sem Mr. Arjun BCA Ist sem, Ms. Zobiya Rathore BCA Ist sem, Ajeet Sharma Computer App ist sem, and others presented a detailed powerpoint and had a very fruitfull interaction and discussion with other participants, students and staff as well. Prof. Ankush Raj, HOD Computer Science Department then through  powerpoint presentation drew the attention of the audience towards the day today crimes pertaining to the use of Mobile devices and thoroughly discussed about various cyber crimes, security issues and privacy pertaining to the use of mobile devices. He, in his detailed online interaction with the participants laid stress on various type of online frauds in our day to day life. Among the faculty members Ms Sheezan Bhat and Dr. Ravinder Singh Rana among other s were present. These activities become the part of quality initiatives of the college and the Teaching-Learning activity also gets enriched.

    To commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel also known as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, the NSS and NCC (Navy) units of GDC Doda organized series of events under the aegis of IQAC and banner of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The events were organized under the able guidance and patronage of Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal of the college. The celebration started with a pledge taking ceremony for to promote the values of unity and security of the country. The pledge was administered by Dr. Sumit Kotwal, NSS Programme Officer of the college. Thereafter, a unity run was conducted from College Campus to the Ghat Bridge in which NSS volunteers and NCC (Navy cadets) participated with great enthusiasm. Also, a cleanliness drive was conducted in the Ghat Nallah wherein the volunteers cleaned the plastic waste lying around the Ghat Spring. The NCC (Navy cadets) were accompanied by Sub-Lieutenant Prof. Zain Batt. The celebration of this day provides an opportunity to re-affirm the inherent strength and resilience of our nation to withstand the actual and potential threats to the unity, integrity, and security of our country

    National Cancer Awareness Day

    To celebrate National Cancer Awareness Day an awareness lecture was organized by the NSS Unit and NCC (Navy wing) of the college under the aegis of IQAC and banner of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The day is celebrated every year to mark the birth anniversary of Nobel Laureate Scientist Marie Curie, as her discovery of radium and polonium led to the development of radiotherapy in cancer treatment. The event was organized under the able guidance and patronage of Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal of the college. The keynote lecture was delivered by Dr. Gagan Deep Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Radiotherapy and Oncology, GMC Doda. He highlighted the importance of early detection and diagnosis for the prevention of cancer disease.  He spoke in depth about the various types of cancer and much needed life style changes to prevent such type of disease. About 70 students and volunteers joined this lecture and they asked a lot of questions to the resource person to satiate their curiosity. The organization of such type of events, encourages the young minds for adoption of healthy life style and stay away from the menace of drug abuse and smoking. At the end of lecture, the principal of the college lauded the efforts of the organizing committee and motivated the students to adopt healthy life habits. The proceedings of the event were conducted by Dr. Sumit Kotwal, NSS Programme Officer of the College. The formal vote of thanks was delivered by Sub-Lieutenant Prof, Zain Batt, NCC (Navy) ANO of the college. The awareness lecture was also attended by Prof. Akrity Parihar, Prof. Purnima Manhas and Dr. Tasir Sharief.

    Dr.Ajaz Ahmed wani ,Associate Professor and Head Department of Zoology Govt.Degree College Doda awarded Distinguished Scientist Award for outstanding contribution in the field of zoology in  a three days international conference at Kashmir University on theme "Advances in  agricultural ,Veterinary and Allied sciences for improving Livelihood and Environmental Security" held  wef 28th to 30th of Sep.2022.The conference was jointly organised by Indian Council of Agricultural Research - Indian Grassland and Fodder Research Institute, Birsa agriculture University Ranchi,(Jharkhand) and National Agriculture Development Cooperative Ltd.((NADCL)Baramulla,( J and K ).The award was conferred in  presence of Dr.Amresh Chander,Director ICAR - Grassland and Fodder Research institute Jhansi,Dr.Nazir Ahmed Mir Registrar Kashmir University,Dr. Sardar Singh Rana Director central sericulture research institute pampore,Dr.O.C Sharma director ICAR- CITH,Dr.MS Malik Dean faculty of forestry Birsa agriculture University Ranchi .It is pertinent to mention here that Dr.Wani has published many research papers in national and international journals and has many award in his credit ,besides is  also reviewer and editor of many research journals.

    5th of Sep 2022: On the occasion of Teachers Day, Govt. Degree college Doda organised an online extension Lecture under the aegis of IQAC and under the guidance of worthy Principal GDC Doda Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal on 5th of Aug 2022. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Vinay Kumar Shukla, Assistant Professor (Department of Hindi and other languages) Central university of Jammu. He enlightened audience about the importance and role of Teachers in everyone’s life. He beautifully explained and compared the role of a teacher from aniciet Guru’s to modern day teachers. He further enlightened the audience about the teaching of our Ancient Guru’s such as Sant Kabir Das, Sant Tulsi das, Valmiki, Chanakya, Swami Vivekananda and many more. He then concluded his lecture with his conclusive remarks that during ancient times in our country, “Guru” the supreme teacher was considered as the ultimate God himself. The entire responsibility rested with such Guru who imparted Physical, Intellectual, Moral and Spiritual upliftment of such deserving souls in the form of his disciples. Based on guidance from these Gurus they achieved ultimate liberation from this worldly life. The whole event by coordinated by Dr. Sumit Kotwal HOD EVS/NSS Program Officer and organised by Prof Ankush Raj, HOD Computer Sciences/NSS convener, Dr. Jagmohan Sharma, HOD Hindi and Dr Arjun singh, PTI. In the end, Prof. Ankush Raj delivered a formal vote of thanks and concluded the event.

    With the aim of promoting mutual exchange of knowledge and advices, Department of Zoology, Govt. Degree College Doda, under the patronage and able guidance of worthy Principal GDC Doda Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal and stewardship of Head Deptt. Of Zoology GDC Doda Dr. Ajaz A. Wani  signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Wildlife Chenab Division Kishtwar, Govt. of J&K headed by Mr.Majid Bashir Mintoo . The faculty members including Astt. Prof. Imteyaz Ahmed, Prof. K. K Manhas and Dr Muneesh Thakur, accompanied HOD Zoology at the time of signing Memorandum of Understanding. The nice initiative will work for mutual collaboration in dissemination of knowledge for the benefit of student community and faculty of GDC Doda as well as the Department of Wildlife Chenab Division Kishtwar, Govt. of J&K. 
    Topics based on Wild life and Biodiversity conservation  has been an important component of Semester Syllabus in NEP 2020 of students and such collaboration between two departments will go a long way in exposure of students to the pragmatic dimension wild life and Biodiversity conservation.
    The awareness disseminated at the level of student community will definitely sensitize younger brains for such ventures.
    The occasion witnessed the agreement between two parties in terms of several activities like seeking mutual advice and support in planning and executing programs promoting excellence in popularizing of biodiversity conservation,research  and encouraging regular visits of experts between the two departments for encouraging youth towards such much needed ecosystem services.

    Red Ribbon club, Govt Degree College Doda in collaboration with J&K AIDS CONTROL SOCIETY under the able guidance of Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal GDC Doda celebrated International Youth day on 12-08-2022. In this connection Department of Computer ScienceGDC Doda in collaboration with Women Development cell and Red Ribbon club of the college organised series of activities like Poster making Competition, Short story/Essay writing Competition  and short video(Mobile film direction) under the overall supervision of Dr. Anita kotwal, HOD Philosophy and dr. Rajesh Manhas, HOD Dogri.

    The event  started with Essay writing competition in which more than 20 students participated and Pawan Kotwal of 4th sem, Asiya Tabassum student of 4th sem, Atiya(of 6th sem) and Atiya Tabbassum (of 4th sem) got 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize respectively. In poster making Competition more than 15 students participated and  Iqra Iqbal Balwan (of 4th sem), Zainab Zargar of 4th sem and Manisha Devi (of 4tth sem) got first, second and third prize respectively. Futrhermore, five students participated in Mobile Film Direction and Vivek Thakur of BCA 2nd semester got the appreciation certificate.     Zoology Deptt. GDC Doda successfully organized Two Day's National Conference

    August 05; Department of Zoology Government Degree College Doda accomplished successfully the arduous and burdensome task of organizing two Day National Conference on 3rd and 4th of August, the first ever national multidisciplinary conference in chenab region of J&K, on the burning theme of " Biodiversity, Climate change and Food Security for Livelihood with Multidisciplinary Approach for Sustainable Development". The conference was held under the chief patronship of Principal Secretary of Higher Education J&K Mr Rohit Kansal (IAS) and under the supervision of VC Jammu University Prof. Dr Umesh Rai, Director Colleges Higher Education Department, J&K (UT), Dr Yasmeen Ashai, Principal GDC Doda Dr Attar Singh Kotwal, President IASR Dr Sudip Barat and President CIU New Delhi Prof. Dr P. R Trivedi. Dr Ajaz A Wani, Head Department of Zoology GDC Doda was the main person to shoulder the responsibility of acting as Organizing Secretary of the whole event. Assistant Prof. Imteyaz Ahmed, Dr Neelam Saba and Dr Muneesh rendered invaluable services of acting as co-organizing secretaries. International Academy of Science and Research (IASR) and Confederation of Indian Universies (CIU), New Delhi collaborated in organizing this conference. Sponsorship of the event was shared by Department of Higher Education, Govt. of J&K, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), HRD, New Delhi, Science, Technology and Innovation Council, Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of J&K (UT) and J&K Bank. Inauguration of the Conference was held on 3rd of August 2022, in community Hall Doda where Principal Secretary Higher Education Rohit Kansal was chief guest and Principal GDC Doda acted as Guest of honor along with Dr Tanmoy Rudra, Executive Security CIU, New Delhi; Captain Dr Satish Minocha, Chairman IASR, Kolkata, West Bengal; Dr R. K Bharti, Additional Deputy Commissioner Doda; Dr Kuldeep Kumar Sharma, Principal Govt. PG College Bhaderwah; Principal GDC Batote, Dr Rajesh Gupta; Mr Fayaz Ahmed Batt, Zonal Head JK Bank, Zone Doda. Program began with the welcome address by Principal GDC Doda Dr Attar Singh Kotwal. All the dignitaries, professors, scientists, research scholars, prominent citizens and students attending the session were formally welcomed with utmost hospitality. Organizing Secretary Two Day National Conference, Dr Ajaz A Wani gave the initial remarks on "About the Conference". Newsletter of Deptt. of Zoology for year 2021-22 was also released on the occasion. Different dignitaries also spoke on the occasion and threw light on the significance and benefits of such events. Principal Secretary Hr. Education Department J&K, Mr Rohit Kansal (IAS) in his virtual address applauded the Dept. of Zoology GDC Doda for such a nice initiative and acknowledged that organizing such an event at a far flung place is not a cup of tea. Principal GDC Doda, Organizing Secretary and co organizing secretaries were appreciated and applauded for organizing this much needed event as scientific knowledge and temper will be promoted with this program. Inaugural session was soon followed by technical sessions where 55 research scholars, faculty members and students from across India presented their papers besides more than 10 invited speakers in 7 technical session Valedictory program of the conference was held in afternoon in Community Hall of Doda on 4th of August 2022. SSP Doda Mr Abdul Qayoom acted as the chief guest. Principal GDC Doda acted as Guest of honor along with Dr Tanmoy Rudra, Executive Security CIU, New Delhi; Captain Dr Satish Minocha, Chairman IASR, Kolkata, West Bengal; Dr Noor Ali Principal GMC Doda, Ex Principal, Prof. Zaheer Abbas Hashmi and others. Report of the whole conference was presented by Organizing Secretary. Besides awarding best Poster presentation and best oral presentation awards, IASR awards announced by IASR through brochure of the conference were also given to the professors and delegates. Whole valedictory session was coordinated by Astt. Prof. Imteyaz Ahmed, Dept. of Zoology GDC Doda. The impressive technical sessions and valedictory function of the conference left indelible impressions on the hearts of arrived guests, scientists, professors, research scholars and others and they wished such conferences to be organized in future as well. During the conference college Newsletter, books by Dr.Sumit kotwal, Dr. Sarvajeet singh and Dr.Tabassum Saleem were also released . Prof. Ankush Raj was the Techinical Coordinator of the event. In painting Competition more than 20 students participated and  Iqra(of 4th sem), Varsha kotwal (of 4th sem) and Kajal Sharma (of 4th sem) got first, second and third prize respectively.     Digital week celebrations concluded successfully at by the Department of Computer Science, GDC Doda

    Department of Computer Science, Govt. Degree College Doda organised a week long Digital week program 2022 under the patron ship of worthy Principal Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal. The Program was organised to aware college students and staff about digitalization and its importance in the modern sge of technology. NSS volunteer, NCC cadets (infantry and Navy) actively participated in this event with great enthusiasm, zeal and fervour.

    On Day 1 i.e on 25th of July, 2022, Prof. Ankush Raj HOD Computer Science in his welcome address explained the importance of various digitalization. He awarded the audience about the various digital services provided by the J& K UT Govt. He further awarded the students about various digital services in education such as SWAYAM. He also highlighted various cons digitalisation such as cybercrimes and frauds and explained how such frauds and scams can be prevented.

    On Day 1 i.e. on 26th of July, 2022, Prof. Ankush Raj HOD Computer Science organised a workshop on e-uNnat digital service. The event was co-organised by Dr. Sumit Kotwal, NSS program Officer. In this workshop students and staff made aware few important e-uNnat digital services like Income certificates, Domicile certificate and Marriage certificate etc.

    On Day 1 i.e. on 27th of July, 2022 Prof. Ankush Raj HOD Computer Science provide a hands-on training to students on DigiLocker digital service. In this training session, live demonstrations were shown to audience by Prof Ankush Raj and Dr. sumit kotwal  and helped them in creating  their accounts in DigiLocker.

    On Day 1 i.e. on 28th of July, 2022, Prof Zain Butt delivered an extension lecture on Digital service “Aap Ki Zameen Ap ki Nigrani”. He gave a detailed power point presentation and explained about various Land records terminologies.

    On last day of Digital week celebration, the weeklong event successfully concluded by revisiting important digital services.  The Whole week long event was coordinated by Prof. Ankush Raj, HOD Computer Science and Nodal Officer Cyber Jaagrukta Diwas under the able guidance of Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal of the college.  He appreciated the department and Digital Week committee members for organising a very informative weeklong event on digitalization. The event was concluded by the formal vote of thanks by Dr. Sumit kotwal, HOD EVS.     To celebrate Kargil Vijay Diwas and ‘Har GharTirangaProgramme’, the NSS and NCC (Infantry & Navy) unitsunder the aegis of IQAC and banner of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav, organized an awareness lecture about National Flag and its code. The event was organized under the able guidance and patronage of Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal of the college. About 35cadets and volunteers of the college participated in this event. The lecture was delivered byProf. Zain Batt, CTO, NCC (Navy). Hemade the young minds aware about the history of national flag, its code and he also, elaborated upon the protocol of hoisting national flag on various occasions.He said that ‘Har GharTiranga’ is a campaign to encourage people to bring the Tiranga home and to hoist it to mark the 75th year of India’s independence.To mark this momentous occasion, the people are encouraged to hoist the flag in their homes from 13th to 15th August, 2022. Thereafter, he spoke in detail about the great sacrifices made by the great soldiers of our country in the Kargil war. He glorified the exemplary and the inspirational contribution of Kargil war heroes. The event was coordinated by Dr. Sumit Kotwal, NSSProgramme Officer of the college and vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Arjun Singh, CTO, NCC (Infantry).     25th, july 2022:
    Today Department of History GDC Doda organised a quiz competition on the topic “Medieval History and Culture of India” under the aegis of IQAC and under overall patronage of Principal GDC Doda. A large number of students participated in the event. There were six teams in competition. The program began with the welcome address by Prof. Mohd Ashraf HOD History, who also coordinated the whole event. Prof. Syed Kazim HOD Economics familiarised the students with the rules and regulations of the quiz. Dr. Anayetullah Wani HOD Arabic, Prof. Amit Kumar, Assistant Professor Economics and Dr. Safi Mohd Naik HOD Persian adjudged the event. There were three rounds of the quiz and the final round was based on current national and international events and other subjects. Prof. Zain Bin Hussain , Assistant Professor Political Science announced the result of the competition. Three teams i.e. Team B headed by Mehboob Ahmed from semester 2nd, Team A headed by Toheed Ahmed from 4th semester and Team E headed by Sajid Ali from 2nd semester were adjudged as first, second and third respectively and were awarded with trophies. Besides participation, Prof. Syed Kazim, Dr. Anayetullah Wani and Dr. Taser Sharif were also among the main organisers of the program.     A Chinarplantation drive was conducted by district administration in the premises of Government Degree College, Doda. This drive was based on the theme, “Save Chinar, Save Our Heritage’. The event began with the plantation of a Chinar sapling by Sh. Vikas Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, Doda and Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal of the college.Principal of the college expressed his gratitude to the district administration for this noble initiative. The saplings were provided by Floriculture Department of the district. TheNSS volunteers and NCC (Infantry and Navy) cadets actively participated in this drive and planted around 14 Chinar saplings in the college. This plantation drive is part of the plantation being carried out by the district administration in different educational institutions of the district. The plantation drive was coordinated by Pawan Kumar (AFO, Doda), Dr. Arjun Singh (NCC CTO, Infantry),Dr. Sumit Kotwal (NSS Programme Officer) and Prof. Zain Batt (NCC CTO, Navy).Other faculty members who participated in the plantation drive included Dr. Ajaz.     NSS and NCC (Infantry & Navy) units of GDC Doda organized yoga session to celebrate 8th International Yoga Day under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The event was based on the theme ‘Yoga for Humanity’. It was organized under the able guidance and patronage of Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal of the college. He addressed the participants on this occasion and advised them to follow the yogic way of lifefor personality enrichment which in turn will greatly contribute to nation building. The yoga session started with warm up asanas (suksham vayayamas) which was followed by various asanas under Common Yoga Protocol (CYP). Sh. Ramesh Kumar, Municipal Counsellor Doda, a Patanjali trained Yoga Instructor, conducted the yoga session in the college premises. He motivated the participants to adopt yoga in daily routine for enjoying healthy and successful lifestyle. The whole proceedings were organized in the college playground in which all the members of teaching and non-teaching staff, NSS volunteers, NCC cadets and students participated with great enthusiasm.The event was managed by Dr. Sumit Kotwal, NSS Programme Officer, Dr. Arjun Singh, CTO NCC (Infantry wing) and Prof. Zain Batt, CTO NCC (Navy wing).



    National level One Week Faculty Development Program on NLP concluded successfully by the Deptt. of Zoology GDC Doda

    One Week Faculty Development Program on Neuro Linguistic Programing (NLP) as communication Tool in classroom for teachers to enhance the communication learning skills and personality development concluded successfully with the valedictory session on 30th of May 2022  by  Deptt. of Zoology Govt Degree College Doda under the patronship of worthy principal GDC Doda Dr Attar Singh Kotwal and coordinatorship of Head Department of Zoology GDC Doda Dr Ajaz A Wani. Dr Sangeeta Sudan Principal Govt. Degree College Vijaypur was the chief guest and Dr Attar Singh Kotwal Principal Govt. Degree College Doda was the Guest of honor on this occasion of valedictory function. Program began with the welcome address by Mr Imteyaz Ahmed Astt. Prof. Deptt. of Zoology GDC Doda in which he, apart from extending warm and sincere welcome to the chief guest, guest of honor/patron, coordinator and other organizers and participant faculty, elaborated the significance of FDP on NLP as teaching tool in classrooms. Welcome address was followed by a detailed summary of the one week Faculty Development Program by the coordinator FDP Dr Ajaz A. Wani. He summarised that the different resource persons invited for different sessions from 24th of May 2022 to 29th of May 2022 namely Mr Abimanyu D. S Billawaria master trainer NLP, Dr Sarita Sood Astt. Prof. Deptt. of Psychology University of Jammu, Prof. Shalini Rana Head Department of English University of Jammu and Mrs Veenu Shivdasani master trainer on NLP from Pune Maharashtra, delivered brilliant presentations on the much needed skills regarding NLP. The significance of these relevant presentations was reflected in the feedback session that followed summary of FDP. Positive feedback from participant faculty was appreciable indeed. Principal GDC Doda in his remarks on FDP congratulated the Deptt. of Zoology for organizing first ever faculty development program by any college in the chenab. He ensured his further support and guidance for such programs in future. Chief guest Dr Sangeeta Sudan Principal GDC Vijaypur in her speech highlighted the importance of NLP skills and impressed that although faculty in higher education institutions use NLP but attending such programs make one to use these techniques and tools based on NLP in an effective and efficient way for solving the problems at the level of classrooms. She lauded the role of Deptt. of Zoology Govt. Degree College Doda for organizing such a wonderful and much needed program and suggested  participant faculty from other colleges to organize such programs.  Whole program was coordinated by Astt.     One Week workshop on Basics of Computers, Internet and Cyber Security concluded successfully by the Department of Computer science, GDC Doda on 31st of May 2022 under the patronship of worthy Principal Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal and coordinated by Prof Ankush Raj, HOD Computer Science. In this workshop, participants were provided with hands-on training of Ms Word, Ms Excel, Internet usage, MS Power Point and Cyber Awareness. Prof Ankush Raj in his welcome address gave the detail summary of one week workshop to the faculty and the participants present in the event. He enlightened the audience about the importance of such workshops to enhance their digital skills personally and professionally. Dr Ajaz A. Wani, HOD Zoology and IQAC coordinator in his lecture motivated the participants and lauded the department of Computer Science for organizing such a fruitful workshop for the teaching and non teaching staff of the college. Ms. Rahat Jabeen, Teaching Assistant Computer application also assisted Head of the department for its smooth conclusion. Prof. Ankush Raj, HoD Computer Sciences and Co-ordinator of the workshop in his welcome address enlightened the participants about the importance of computer skills and how such skills are going to help them personally and professionally. Principal GDC Doda Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal  in his lecture motivated the participants.     Department of Zoology   and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan unit of GDC Doda  organized an inter-college symposium on the topic "Climate Change and its Consequences with Special reference to Jammu & Kashmir: A way forward under the initiative of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan a flagship programme of Govt. of India. In the symposium  five colleges of district Doda and Kishtwar including GDC Doda, GDC Bhaderwah, GDC Thathri, GDC Kishtwar and GDC Kilotharan  participated. Two students from each college spoke on the theme. The programme begain with well come adress and introductory speech by  Dr. Ajaz Ahmed Wani HOD Zoology and UBA Coordinator in which he speaks at length  about the green house gases emission and their contribution in global warming and how to mitigate this problem. The Programme was organised  under the chairmanship of the Principal of the College Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal. In his address he  congratulated the department of zoology for organising this event The main aim behind organizing this event is to raise awareness about critical issues that the Earth is facing and focusing on natural processes, emerging green technologies and innovative thinking that can restore the world’s ecosystem.
     He also congratulated the participants  as well as the student  for their participation in the event with full enthusiasm.On the occasion, SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, He motivated and enlightened the students about important aspects of climate change and its consequences. 
    Ifra Batool of GDC Doda clinched Ist position while Atiya Tabassum of GDC, Doda and Sheetal Rana GDC Kishtwar  shared  2nd position, Adress  Loan of GDC Thathri  bagged 3rd position and Krishma Thakur bagged 4th position respectively.The symposium was adjugded by Dr.Sumit Kotwal ,Dr.Mohd Aslam Rather and Dr.Tabassum Besides participation certificates were presented to all participants.In the programme Dr. Ajaz Ahmed Wani was also felicitated for registering his name in Indian Book of Records for maximum publication in Zoology in a year  and other  achievements.Besides large no.of teaching and non teaching faculty members attended the programme.Whole proceedings of the programme was conducted by prof.Imteyaz Ahmed dept.of zoology  and Arza and Atiya of B.Sc 6th sem.The formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Manish Thakur department of Zoology, GDC Doda.

Wani Skill Course Coordinator and HOD Zoology GDC Doda and Mr Abimanyu Course Instructor appointed from Central University of Jammu,faculty members and students . The course has been introduced in GDC Doda in collaboration with Central University of Jammu. Dr Ajaz A Wani course coordinator in his well come and introductory speech highlighted the importance of skill courses in the life of a person particularly students and the present inaugurated course of Personality Development is highly relevant in present competitive times for the development of personal communication and other relevant dimensions of personality. Course instructor Mr Abhimanyu also gave a brief address on the significance and benefits of this personality development course and shared his experience of working in different persoanlity development workshops and trainings courses.     Doda: Department of Geography in collaboration with IQAC and under the guidance of Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal (Principal) celebrated ‘World Earth Day’ 2022 by spreading awareness on environment conservation. On the occasion, a Special - e - Lecture was organised by the department of Geography, which was delivered by Dr. Tajinder Kour from Department of Geography, University of Jammu. She discussed at length about the regimes and issues pertaining to save our planet Earth. The theme of the event was ‘How to Invest in our Planet?’ The students of Semester- II participated enthusiastically and some of the students presented their ideas on the environmental issues.  Among the students Insha Tabassum, Muzaffer Ahmed, Aashish Kumar, Himani and Kashif Rasool shared their views regarding how to invest and save our planet Earth. The students were motivated to recycle the solid waste items at their homes to help to manage the waste at source itself. Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal of the college applauded the faculty of Department of Geography for conducting such an activity that provides platform to students to bring forward their ideas and talent. The whole programme was coordinated by Dr. Sarvjeet Singh, HOD, Geography. This month theme of the seminar was ‘Cyber Security and Safety on different digital platforms. Quiz began with the welcome cum motivation address of Prof. Ankush Raj HOD Computer Science Department and Nodal Officer Cyber Awareness Program

     The Department of Computer Science, Govt Degree College Doda (J&K) has successfully completed on 30th of April 2022. More than hundred students of the college participated in this quiz and top three position holders received their participation and appreciation certificates. Kajal Devi, Harsha Singh, Tanisha Mahajan, Vijay Singh, Sonika Rana, Shivider Singh and Lakshman Gouria bagged ist position, Mohd waseem, sakshi devi and ramida banoo were among the second position holders and Rohit kumar, Priksha Devi, Gautam Kumar, Veerit Kotwal bagged third positions respectively. It is worth to mention here that the department is conducting cyber awareness program every month under Cyber Jaagrookta divas initiative.     The NSS unit and NCC (Infantry and Naval) wings organized a felicitation ceremony for meritorious NCC cadets and NSS volunteers under the aegis of IQAC. The cadets and volunteers were felicitated by Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal of the college. He also addressed them on this occasion and motivated them to participate in the community engagement and services activitiesforupgrading their personality skills and at the same time earn certificates which they will be helpful to them in the higher education set up. The appreciation certificates received from Director, Sainik Welfare Department were issued to the cadets and volunteers who actively participated in the different activities organized for the welfare of Ex-Servicemen, Veer Naris and their wards such as fundraising in Armed Forces Flag Day activity etc. The certificates were presented to Cadet Ashish Kotwal, Cadet Joginder Singh, Cadet Amit Thakur, Cadet Ankit Singh, Cadet Rohit Kumar and Cadet Chetan Jaral, Rahul Singh, Ifra Batool, MankashiKatoch and Sheetal Devi.     ‘My School My Pride’ on 23rd of April 2022

    To make the students aware about the different attributes of New Education Policy, an awareness camp was organized at Government Higher Secondary School (Boys), Doda under the aegis of IQAC and banner of ‘My School My Pride’. The camp was organized under the chief patronage and guidance of Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal of the college. It was organized by the NSS Unit and NCC (Naval wing) of the college. In the inaugural lecture, Prof. Zain Batt, CTO NCC (Naval wing) elaborated upon the historical background of the NEP and its relevance in the current scenario. He alsodeliberated upon the fundamental features of the New Education Policy. In the subsequent session, Dr. Sumit Kotwal, NSS Programme Officer of the college addressed the students and made them aware about the new curriculum to be implemented in the current academic session. Besides, he spoke in detail about the academic bank of credits and new subject combinations which can be opted in the college. He explained about the different academic levels in school education and higher education, entry/exit option available in the new curriculum framework, vocational education and multidisciplinary nature of the new education regime.Students listened to the resource persons with great enthusiasm. The school administration expressed their extreme satisfaction in the conduct of the event and requested the resource persons to organize more such events in the near future.

    The whole program was presided over by Principal of the School Madam Ruby Naz. Other prominents who attended the program are Mr. Majid Zargar, Naseem ul Haq, Zaffarullah Naik, Shabir Batt, Talib Hussain.

    The program culminated with a formal vote of thanks which was delivered by Mr. Imtiaz Assad.

    Dr. Ajaz Ahmed Wani Head Department of Zoology Govt.Degree College Doda, Jammu and  kashmir has set a record of maximum research publication in zoology in a year in different reputed  and peer reviewed national and international journals such as International Journal of life Sciences, International journal of pure and Applied Biosciences, international journal of innovation in biological and chemical sciences etc. The work was recorded by the India Book of Records and Asian Book of Records is the ist in its genera to register and has been recognised by the Indian Government and has been associated with Asian Book of records. All the international Protocol of the records (IPRS) has been kept in mind while composing ,certificate, medal, badge ,book and pen were presented to record holder. All the faculty members ,principal ,students and people from different walks of life shower congratulation on this Acheivements.
      It is pertinent to mention here that Dr.Wani taking the advantage of lockdown has published much work on covid -19 also as review article in different national and international journal. Besides he  has many awards at national and international level.


    GDC Doda celebrates National Equality Day (Ambedkar Jayanti)

    April 16: Department of Political Science, GDC Doda under the Supervision and guidance of the principal of the College, Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal and under the Headship of Prof. Zain Ul Abdeen Banday Organised an event   of  debate competition to commemorate the 131st birth anniversary of Dr. BR Ambedkar.

    The event was presided over by Prof Babu Ram Rakwal who delivered the keynote address. The program began with an introductory address by Prof. Zain Batt , Assistant Professor in Political Science. Students from different streams participated in the debate competition and presented their views (in favor and against) on the theme, In the opinion of the house, “ Ambedkar’s dream of social, economic and political equality in tandem with the constitutional mandate of right to eqality is far from being achieved”
    The First, Second and third position was secured by Amir Maseeb, Pawan Kotwal and Nawaz Ahmed respectively. 

    All the faculty members also joined the programme. The Concluding remarks were presented by The Chairperson of the event Prof. Babu Ram Rakwal. Prof. Zain Ul Andeen Banday delivered a detailed lecture on the theme and the life and works of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar. He also presented the official vote of thanks.

    Department of Physical Education and Sports under the Patronage of Principal Govt. Degree College Doda, Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal and in tandem with Sports Committee of the College has organized Intramural Cricket Competition. The chief organizer of the event was Dr. Arjun Singh (HOD) DPE&S. The final event of the tournament was flagged off by Prof. Babu Ram, vice Principal of the Collegeand Prof. K.K.Manhas, HOD Education. Throughout the tournamenta total 16 number of teams in which more than 200 students participated in thisknock out tournament. The final match wasplayed between Viv Richards 11 V/S Ab de Villiers 11. The toss was won by Viv Richards 11 and decided to ball first. Ab de Villiers while batting first has given a huge target of 152 runs for the loss of two wickets in 10 overs. Umer Bilal was wreck in chief who scored 74 runs including six sixes in a single over. Umer Shafi and Mujeeb Ur-Rehman also contributed 38 and 16 runs respectively. While chasing the target Viv Richards 11 were bundled out at a meager score of 79 runs in ten overs. Ravi, Hajid and Sunny were the tops scorer of their team.

    In the Post match presentation, Man of the Match and Man of the tournament were given to Umer Bilal and Ather Khurshed respectively. The medals werealso distributed among the players of the winning teamand the final trophy of the tournament has given to the winning Captain Mujeeb Ur Rehman Wani. While interacting with the team members,Convenor Sports Committee Prof. Manjeet Singh congratulated both the teams for displaying the spirit of Sportsmanship and the chief organizer Dr.Arjun Singh for accomplishing this herculean task sagaciously.Dr. Jag Mohan Sharma and Prof. Kazim, members of the Sports Committee and some students of Semester2nd&5th namelyPawan Kotwal, Vishal, Mujeeb, Sarthak, Athar, Isharat Fayaz and Umar were the part to organize this grand event.     Govt Degree College Doda organised the expert lecture on Cyber Crime in Collaboration with District Police Doda. The event was organized by Debate and Cyber jagrookta committee of the college under the guidance and patronage of Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal of the college. The programme began with welcome address by Dr. Ajaz Ahmed Wani HOD Zoology and convener of the Debate committe  which was followed by the expert talk by Shri Jasvant Singh Parihar Dy.Sp headquarter Doda. He discussed in detail regarding the social networking sites and how the hackers hack the data and how the common people are become the victims of these cyber crimes. In his highly informative deliberations Mr. Singh talked about Cyber Stalking, Phishing attack, Password attack, SQL injection, Virus, Malware, Hackers, Denial of Service attack and also exposed the purpose of motivation for cyber attack.

    He also threw light on sources of cyber threats and highly structured cyber threats. He also stressed upon the student community to check the terms and condition of any social networking site before joining them.Others present on the occasion were Prof.Babu Ram, Prof. KK Manhas, Dr.Akhter Hussain, Dr.Imtiaz Ahmed, Dr.Ravinder Singh, Prof.Manjeet, Dr.Sumit Kotwal , Dr.Tasir Shrief , Arun Kumar SHO Doda and Anil kumar, Prof. Younis Rashid and Prof.Zain Batt. The programme was attended by a large number of students of the college.  The formal vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Zain Banday.

    Department of zoology GDC Doda   conducted the blood group typing of the college students.The event was organized under the patronage of Principal Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal and under the supervision of Dr. Ajaz Ahmed Wani Head Department of Zoology. The event was inaugurated by principal of the college and in his brief address lauded the efforts of faculty of the department of zoology for doing innovation subjects. Blood groups are performed by using spanclone Ant. A+,B+ and D+(Rho) monoclonal diagnostic kit following standard protocol  This exercise was conducted with the objective that it yield information on blood group of the students and can be used by blood donation societies for collection of blood and students also need the same on their Identity Card and on Admission form. Besides, in case of emergency provide rare blood groups transfusion facility to the patient who are in need of such groups. The other faculty members present in the inaugural session was  Prof. Babu Ram, Mr.Rakesh Kumar(Asst.Prof.Physics)  Mr.Imtiaz Ahmed(Asst.Prof.Zoology) Dr, MohdAslam and Dr. Muneesh Kumar. The whole excersise  was conducted  by  the students  of B.SC 5th semester.

    Under the initiative of the Govt. of India, Department of Computer Science, GDC doda organised a seminar under the aegis of IQAC  and under the overall supervision of Principal GDC Doda Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal on 31 March 2022.The title of the seminar was ‘Cyber Risks associated with varied online activities''. Seminar began with the welcome address of Prof. Ankush Raj HOD Computer Science Department and Nodal Officer Cyber Awareness Program. This was followed by a detailed lecture  through a PowerPoint presentation, he threw a detailed light on day to day crimes pertaining to online activities through the use of mobile devices, security issues and privacy. He discussed in detail various cyber crimes like internet calling, phishing, hacking, spoofing, cyber theft, cyber bullying etc. and suggested measures of safety from such frauds and blackmailing. On this occasion  College students namely Mehraab Farooq and vivek Thakur from BCA 2nd sem also enlightened the students about cyber threats pertaining to online shopping and payments. The seminar ended with the formal vote of thanks by Prof. Mohd Ashraf, organising secretary Cyber Awareness Program. Prof. Amit Kumar from the department economics and Miss Rahat Jabeen, Teaching Assistant Computer Science Department also attended the seminar. It is pertinent to mention here that these are the series of programs organised by the department and will be organised in future as well.

     In a confirmation letter, the NAAC officials have conveyed to the Principal that the outcome of the Assessment and Accreditation (A&A) exercise of GDC Doda was proceed and approved by the standing committee to examine the Peer team report and declare the accreditation result.

    Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal of the college congratulated all the students, student council, NCC cadets, NSS volunteers and the staff for their dedicated work and excellent contribution in the process of NAAC accreditation of the college.
    He lauded the role of outgoing Principal, Dr Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi, IQAC Coordinator Dr Ajaz Ahmed Wani, his IQAC team comprising of Prof Bashir Ahmed, Dr Sumit Kotwal, Prof Ankush Raj, Dr Mohd Aslam Rather, Dr Tasir Sharief, Prof Mohd Ashraf, Prof Imteyaz Ahmed, Prof Syed Kazim and all the college staff for the hard work they had put in towards this great academic activity.
    The college has scored maximum points in teaching, research, innovation and infrastructure parameters.
    A staff meeting was also convened by Principal of the college on this occasion in which the NAAC Peer team report was discussed with all the staff members along with recommendations for quality enhancement of the institution.
    He asked the staff and IQAC coordinator to gear up for implementation of recommendation of the NAAC Peer team, maintain the institutional record in specified formats for next cycle and work with dedication to make this institute a model institute of learning.

    28-02-2022.The NSS Unit, Green Rangers Ecoclub and Department of Botany organized one day Plantation Drive in thecollege campus in collaboration with forest department under the aegis of IQAC of the institution. The eventbegan with the plantation of a Deodar sapling byDr. Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal of the college and Adil Shan, Range Officer (HQ), Doda.He impressed upon the role of students as environmental messengers and urgent need of saving this green gold for future generations.He appreciated the role of Conservator of forests, Chenab Circle for hisever-available noble support for plantation activitiesby the college administration. The faculty membersalongwithvolunteersof the NSS unit and ecoclubactively participated in this drive and planted about 30 saplings of Deodar along the circumference of college playground and botanical garden. Dr. Sumit Kotwal, NSS Programme Officer of the college and Dr. TasirSharief, Head,Department of Botany located the sites for plantation in the college campus in close co-operation with the staff of forest department.Dr. Aijaz Ahmed Wani, IQAC coordinator of the college shared the importance of national science day with the students.NSS volunteers and members of the college ecoclub participated with great enthusiasm in the event.      To observe Martyr’s Day (the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi), the NSS and NCC (Navy) units under the aegis of IQAC of Government Degree College, Doda organized a "Memorial lecture" devoted to the life journey of Gandhiji. The event was organized under the able guidance and patronage of Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal of the college. About 25 students of the college participated in this online event. The event was organized to pay homage to the Martyrs of Indian Independence Movement and to provide valuable insights about the inspirational contribution of Gandhiji in this movement. It was organized using the Google Meet online platform. Prof. Zain Batt, CTO, NCC (Navy) acquainted the audience about the role of Gandhian philosophy and its relevance in the present world. The students also asked questions about the Indian freedom movement and satiated their curiosity from the resource person. The event was technically steered by Dr. Sumit Kotwal, NSS Programme Officer of the college.

Under the overall guidance and supervision of worthy Principal, Dr Attar Singh Kotwal, the event was started. Prof. Ankush Raj, HOD Computer Science Department presented the welcome address. He then  through  powerpoint presentation drew the attention of the audience towards the day today crimes pertaining to the use of Internet such as  Internet Calling, Phishing, hacking, Spoofing, Indentity Theft, Cracking and online frauds. He aware the participants about various cyber crimes such as cyber theft, cyber bullying, cyber stalking, identity theft and denial of services etc. Prof, Rohit Gupta, Assistant Professor Cluster University of Jammu, was the guest Speaker on this occasion. He thoroughly discussed about various cybers crimes, security and privacy. He, in his online interaction with the participants laid stress on various type of online frauds in our day to day life. Among the faculty members Dr Anita Kotwal, Prof. Mohd Ashraf and Miss Rahat Jabeen were present. These activities become the part of quality initiatives of the college and the Teaching-Learning activity also gets enriched. The programme ended with a formal vote of thanks presented by Miss Rahat Jabeen, Teaching Assistant from department of Computer Science.

     DODA: A five-day training programme on ‘Basic Civil Defense and Disaster Mitigation’ (BCD&DM) concluded today at Govt. Degree College, Doda. The programme that commenced on 24th December was organized by the college in collaboration with State Disaster Response Force ( SDRF) , J&K. The function was attended by Faculty members, NCC Navy , Infantry Cadets and NSS volunteers of the college. The programme was aimed at training students and faculty members to handle emergency cases during any disaster including fire incidents, giving CPR, earthquake, snake bites, poisoning cases, evacuation of accidental victims , gas leakage etc. Speaking on the occasion, Principal of the College, Prof. ( Dr.) Attar Singh Kotwal  said, Our goal is to make a safer society by  training the students and faculty members as trainers who in turn will subsequently train other volunteers and students.

    Earlier, Prof. Zain Batt, CTO, NCC ( Naval Wing) , GDC, Doda detailed the aims and objectives of the programme. He said that building capacity is an important component of Disaster Management for all. He also said that theoretical knowledge gives basic idea of the subject matter however practical knowledge is most essential to get first-hand knowledge and experience of disaster preparedness and providing first aid at the time of any incident is important to save lives. The report of the 5- day programme was presented by Instructor, Mohammad Irfan of Civil Defense , Doda. SDRF Master Trainers, Abdul Qayoom, Ghulam Nabi Wani and Muhammad Irfan conducted  training sessions and a mock drill on fire fighting and evacuation, besides training on Basic Life Support, First Aid and CPR. The whole training program was coordinated by Prof. Babu Ram, HOD, Chemistry, Dr. Sumit Kotwal, HOD, Environmental Science, Dr. Arjun Singh, CTO, NCC ( Infantry) and Prof. Zain Batt, CTO, NCC ( Naval Wing) . The formal vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Muhammad Ashraf

    Doda  Dec 16: NCC  (Naval) and ( Infantry ) Wings  of the Govt. Degree College , Doda organized a program in connection with the celebration of Vijay Diwas on 16th December, 2021. The program was organized under the guidance and patronship of Principal of the College Prof. (Dr.) Attar Singh Kotwal and under the aegis of IQAC, GDC, Doda. It is pertinent to mention here that India celebrates Vijay Diwas  every year on December 16th  to commemorate its victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war, which led to the creation of Bangladesh.

    The  program started with the introductory lecture delivered by Prof. Zain Batt, ANO/CTO , NCC (Naval Wing ) GDC, Doda. It was followed by a motivational lecture by Prof. Babu Ram, HOD ( Chemistry) .He also enlightened them about the past wars fought by Indian Armed forces .Dr. Arjun Singh, ANO/CTO , NCC ( Infantry) also addressed the cadets and students. Dr. Jagmohan Sharma presented vote of thanks. On this occasion Dr. Ajaz A. Wani,Prof. K K. Manhas ,  and other staff members were also present.

    The cadets who participated in the program are Sofia, Tina, Neesha , Sumiya, Neena , Simran, Jagdeep , Bikey and  Vicky . The whole program was coordinated by Cadet Ashish Kotwal of NCC (Naval Wing) , GDC, Doda.

    The NSS unit of Government Degree College, Doda organized series of cleanliness drives to clean springs and rivers of Chenab valley under clean India Program w.e.f. 1st December to 15th December, 2021 under the banner of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

    The drive was flagged off by Principal of the college, Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal. He interacted with the volunteers and encouraged them to actively participate in this Clean India program for cleaning neighboring villages and water bodies(springs and rivers).The volunteers undertook the awareness cum cleanliness drive in the village Nalwa(covering 2 water springs), Ghat-Doda road (covering 1 spring) and Khellani Nala Road (covering 2 springs).Also, the tourist point at Puldoda (confluence of river Chenab and Neeru stream) was also cleaned and volunteers interacted with the employees of the tourism department. They,further, interacted with the locals and made them aware about the importanceof preservation of water bodies.

    The work of NSS volunteers was appreciated by locals of the village. The entire program was supervised by Prof. Ankush Raaj, Convenor, NSSCommittee and Dr. Sumit Kotwal, NSS Programme officer of the college. Prof. Babu Ram, HoD Chemistry, Prof. K.K. Manhas, HoD Education and Dr. Anita Kotwal, HoD philosophy also participated in different cleanliness activities.     The NCC ( Naval Wing),  Government Degree College, Doda celebrated the National Navy Day Under the guidance and patronage of Principal of the College Prof. (Dr.) Attar Singh Kotwal and under the aegis of IQAC, GDC, Doda. It is pertinent to mention here that Navy Day in India is observed on December 4 every year to recognize the role and achievements of the Indian Navy. The day was chosen to commemorate the launch of Operation Trident against Pakistan during the Indo-Pakistan War in 1971

    The Programme started with the introductory lecture on the National Navy Day by Prof. Zain Batt, ANO/ CTO, NCC (Naval Wing) , GDC, Doda .  It was followed by a motivational lecture by Dr. Ajaz A. Wani, Coordinator, IQAC, GDC, Doda. The Program wasc attended by Prof. Ankush Raj, HOD Computer Science and Prof. K K Manhas, HOD Education.

    The Navy Cadets also addressed the audience where students, NCC (Infantry) Cadets and NSS Volunteers of the college attended the program. The program culminated with the NCC song presented by Naval Cadets. The whole program was coordinated by Cadet Captain Joginder Singh

    Before this program, the Naval Cadets also participated in Campus Cleanliness Drive to celebrate the Navy Day.

    All the students Principal and staff members of the college took a pledge on the occasion to maintain the equality, fraternity, sovereignty, integrity of the nation.

    Earlier Prof. (Dr.) Attar Singh Kotwal,the Principal of the college spoke at length instilling students the importance and purpose of celebration of National Constitution Day, He also advised the students to take part in the associated activities which would be performed in near future.     To celebrate Communal Harmony Week under Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav, a week-long celebration was organized under the chief patronage and guidance of Dr Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal of the college. The event was coordinated by Red Cross Committee of the college, NSS Unit and NCC (Army & Naval wing).  In this celebration series of events were organized from 19-11-2021 to 25-11-2021, for sensitizing the students, teachers and the local community regarding communal harmony and national integration. On the first day of the celebration (20-11-2021), a pledge taking ceremony was organized in the college campus. Prof. Preeti Devi, Convener, College Red Cross Committee administered communal harmony oath to the students, NSS volunteers and NCC cadets. The second day of the celebration included an essay writing event which was organized by the Red Cross Committee. The event was judged by Dr Ravinder Singh, Assistant Professor (Botany) and Prof. Zain Batt (CTO, NCC Naval wing). The best three essays were shortlisted for sending to National Foundation for Communal Harmony. On the third day of celebration (23-11-2021), a poster making event was organized in the college in which 10 students participated and presented their thoughts on communal harmony. An awareness rally on communal harmony and national integration was organized on the 4th day of the event (24-11-2021) in which students and their mentors went around the surroundings of college premises for promotion of national integration and unity in diversity. On the 5th day of the event, National Flag day was observed in the college in which teaching and non-teaching staff, students of different semesters, NSS volunteers and NCC cadets participated enthusiastically and generously funded for the cause of orphans and children affected by violence. Also, a concluding session was organized on the last day of the event. The session was coordinated by Prof. Zain Batt (CTO, NCC Wing). Ms. Ifra Batool, Mr. Rashid shabir, Mr Nitan Singh and Basit Ajaz, the students of 5th semester, presented their thoughts on communal harmony on this occasion. The gathering of students and faculty members was addressed by Prof. Babu Ram, Vice-Principal of the college. He motivated them to follow the principles of unity in diversity in their daily routine for the progress of our nation.     The NSS Unit and NCC (Army and Naval) wing of GDC Doda in collaboration with IQAC observed World Remembrance Day for road traffic victims under the patronage and able guidance of Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal of the college. The programme begun with the Inaugural address by Principal of the college. He administered road safety pledge to the staff and students and deliberated upon the need of practical application of the road safety knowledge being imparted in the college education system. He,further, motivated them to obey all the traffic rules for the greater good of youth, society and the nation. Thereafter, he flagged off an awareness rally which ran through vicinity of the college premises wherein the NSS volunteers and NCC cadets conducted an awareness drive regarding road traffic rules. The awareness rally was led by Dr Sumit Kotwal, NSS Programme Officer and Mr. Zain Batt, NCC CTO (Naval wing). About 50 volunteers and cadets participated in this drive. They made the general commuters aware about the important road safety rules and etiquettes like wearing of seat belts, helmets, avoiding wrong parking, over speeding and unnecessary honking on the roads.The rally ended in the college premises.

    To commemorate the 146th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Rashtriya Ekta Pledge taking ceremony was organized in online mode under the able guidance and patronage of Dr Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal of the college. About 30 volunteers and cadets took pledge to preserve the unity, integrity and security of the nation and also resolved to make their make their contribution for the internal security of the country. The event began with introduction about the event by Prof Zain Batt, CTO NCC Naval wing. He emphasized upon the role of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (Iron Man of India) in the unification of our diverse nation. Dr Sumit Kotwal, NSS Programme Officer, administered oath to the volunteers and cadets of the college. Dr Arjun Singh, CTO NCC Infantry wing motivated youth to play their part for preserving the internal security of the country. The objective of celebrating this day is to maintain the nation's unity and to spread awareness about contributions of this great man to Indian history.

    Under this programme, the NCC Navy  , NCC Infantry  Cadets and NSS volunteers of the college participated . Even teachers were the essential part of this drive. As a part of this Cleanliness Drive, the whole college campus was cleaned and Wastes collected were disposed off properly .

     Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal  , Principal of the college started the programme by cleaning the corners of the play ground. Then the teachers and students followed suit.  Some of the students did the dusting of the rooms.And others went to the play ground and started picking wrappers lying scattered there. After collecting them they threw them in to the dustbins. After doing this job for two to three hours, the Cadets assembled at the main playground of the college and an awareness programme was organised in which Prof. Zain Batt , NCC (Naval Wing ) , CTO addressed the students and talked about the main theme of the event and the importance of cleanliness .On the second and last day of the program , the students did the cleanliness of the garden area of the college and the event got concluded with the awareness program addressed by Dr. Sumit Kotwal , NSS Programme Officer  .

    07-09-2021: The NSS Unit of GDC Doda on the occasion of National Nutrition Week organized a "Poshan Abhiyan Quiz" under the patronage and able guidance of Dr. Shafqat H. Rafiqi, Principal of the college. In order to bring nutrition to the centre-stage of the National Development Agenda, Government of India launched Poshan Abhiyaan, a multi-ministerial convergence mission with a vision to address malnutrition in children, women and adolescents. Further, to ensure community mobilisation and bolster people’s participation, every year the month of September is celebrated as Rashtriya Poshan Maah across the country. This quiz event is part of the 4th Rashtriya Poshan Maah and Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav being observed all over the country. About 150 students from various colleges of the Union Territory participated in the quiz. The quiz was organized to provide valuable insights about the right nutrients required to make our body fit and fine. It was organized using the google form quiz platform and the e-certificates were issued by using certify’em feature.

    21-08-2021: To celebrates Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsa  and honour our freedom fighters ,the NCC Navy , NCC Infantry and NSS Volunteers of GDC ,Doda came up together and started with a memorable run - Run for Country Under Fit India Mission ‘s Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 .Principal, Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi , welcomed the cadets in the college who started their run at the early hours of the day from the College campus .He said, "It is a tribute to our freedom fighters and a ray of hope to create India a better place with fitter people who decide to consider their health a priority in the busy life all of us live now -a- days.
    Dr. Arjun Singh ,CTO , NCC (Infantry ) , Mr. Zain Batt ,CTO ,NCC ( Naval Wing ) , and Dr. Sumit Kotwal ,NSS Programme Officer accompanied the cadets in this run. The cadets also participated in campus cleanliness drive wherein they collected all the ignored litter and disposed it. The entire college

    20-08-2021: A Pledge taking Ceremony was organized by NSS Unit, NCC (Infantry Wing) and NCC (NavalWing) under the supervision and able guidance of Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi, Principal of thecollege. Adil Qayum, the NSS Headboy, administered pledge to the NSS Volunteers and NCCcadets. This day is observed every year to encourage the great feeling of national integration,peace, affection and communal harmony among the people of all the religions and regionsacross the country. The event was coordinated by Dr. Sumit Kotwal, Programme Officer, NSS and Dr. Arjun Singh, CTO, NCC, (Infantry) and Mr. Zain Batt CTO, NCC (Naval Wing).     GDC Doda CELEBRATES 75TH INDEPENDENCE DAY

    Doda ::GDC Doda celebrates the 75th Independence day on 15th of August, 2021 in the college campus with enthusiasm and patriotic fervor strictly following Covid-19 SOP's . The festivity commenced with a brief introduction of the occasion by Dr. Akhtar Hussain (HOD, Urdu ) . It was followed by the hoisting of National flag by Chief Guest Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi , Principal GDC,  Doda  which was accompanied by the singing of the National Anthem by students of  GDC Doda and March-Past by Cadets of NCC (Infantry ) , NCC (Naval Wing) and NSS . Dr. Rafiqi in his address to the gathering spoke about the sacrifices  of the people of India for over two centuries to attain freedom from the British colonial  Rule.  He lauded the efforts of independent India in the field of science and technology, medicine, education, industries at the global level. He advised faculty and students to use our freedom for a better tomorrow . In his speech he, brought forth some nostalgic memories of Independence Day Celebration. The programme was attended by all Faculty members of the college. The programme include  cultural items by the Students showcasing the culture of our country , it was followed by  prize distribution to the students who participated in a series of events Under Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav India@75 . Moreover, IQAC/NAAC team members Dr. Ajaz A Wani, Prof. Ankush Raj, Dr. Aslam, Dr. Sumit Kotwal, Prof  Imtiaz Ahmed and Dr Tasir Sharief were appreciated and felicitated by worthy Principal for their hardwork and dedication in NAAC accredidation. The program ended with Vote of thanks by Prof. Zain Batt , CTO NCC (Naval Wing ), GDC , Doda . The whole proceedings of the program was conducted by Dr. Akhter Hussain (HOD , Urdu ) and Dr. Sumit Kotwal , NSS Programme officer , GDC , Doda . All the  norms of social distancing and wearing masks were taken while holding celebrations.

    Doda: As a part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ India@75, a special cleanliness drive was organized by NCC (Naval Wing) and NSS Unit, GDC Doda, under the supervision and guidance of, Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi, Principal of the college. The cadets went around the college to collect the garbage and dumped the same in the colour coded dustbins. Mr. Zain Batt CTO, NCC (Naval Wing), Dr. Sumit Kotwal, Programme Officer, NSS and Dr. Arjun Singh, CTO, NCC, (Infantry) also participated in the cleanliness drive along with students. The cleanliness drives are a regular feature in the institution to keep the college campus clean and green and to develop a sense of fundamental duty among the students. All NCC Cadets and NSS Volunteers participated with great enthusiasm in the event.

    Doda : Under the aegis of "Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav", NCC Naval  Unit and NSS of GDC Doda honoured the martyrs of Kargil War to commemorate the Kargil Vijay Diwas. Every year ,26th of July is celebrated as Kargil Vijay Diwas to pay homage to all those who lost their lives in Kargil protecting our nation .

    A Virtual programme was organized on the Google Meet Platform in which Mr. Zain Batt , CTO , Naval Wing , GDC ,Doda delievered a detailed lecture on the Kargil Vijay Divas , Operation Vijay and Operation Safed Sagar . The Cadets of Naval wing also actively  participated by presenting Poetry recitation in the honour of matryed soldiers of Kargil War . Dr. Sumit Kotwal , NSS Programme Officer , GDC , Doda also address the participants and stress on taking inspiration from the valour of Armed forces of our country .

    Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi , Principal, GDC Doda  also paid homage to the martyrs of Kargil war and commended the efforts of NCC Naval unit  and NSS of the college .

    An Online workshop on “NAAC Awareness” hosted by Govt Degree College Doda and organized by Higher Education Department for Jammu Division Colleges

    26-07-2021: An Online workshop on “NAAC Awareness” hosted and jointly organised by Govt Degree College Doda and  Higher Education Department for Jammu Division Colleges

    In a series of online workshops for NAAC Assessment and Accreditation of all the Colleges of UT of J&K commenced from July 13, 2021 simultaneously in both the divisions of J&K for the effective implementation of National Education Policy 2020, the 7th workshop was hosted by Govt. Degree College Doda on 26th July under the enriched expertise of Principal Govt Degree College Doda Prof. (Dr.) Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi (Nominated as NAAC expert for group C of seven colleges of Jammu division). Around 65 participants from different colleges of Jammu Division participated in the workshop.
    This NAAC awareness workshop was held under the aegis and patronage of Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi. The Principals from all the participating colleges, their IQAC coordinators and members joined the workshop. The workshop started at 10:30 am on Cisco Webex Meet platform with the formal welcome address by Dr. Sumit Kotwal, Member IQAC, GDC Doda. After inaugural, the Resource person of workshop Dr. Rafiqi deliberated upon the importance of IQAC Cells and registration of institution on NAAC portal till the visit of NAAC peer team. He also elaborated all the seven (7) criteria needed for the submission of the Self Study Report (SSR). He emphasized on the implementation of NAAC for the quality education in the colleges and explained the importance of IQAC cells in colleges, documentation of record and preparation of SSRs and submission of AQARs. His presentation was a key in forming curriculum and startup related strategies for NAAC accreditation and was helpful in meeting the purpose and objectives of the workshop. His enlightening lecture fulfilled all the aspects of the workshop.
    Later Dr. Ajaz Ahmed Wani, Coordinator, IQAC GDC Doda shared his valuable experience about the NAAC accreditation process and interacted with the participants. In his supportive talk he emphasized on the timely submission of Institutional Information for Quality Assessment (IIQA) and preparation of SSR. Then, the workshop was kept open for interactive session with all the principals of participating colleges, their IQAC coordinators and other participant faculty members of various colleges. They also interacted with the NAAC expert Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi. All queries were satisfactorily addressed by the resource person. Further, he ensured assistance to non-NAAC accredited colleges to accomplish this milestone. Dr. Ravinder Kumar Tikoo Nodal Principal colleges of Jammu Division elaborated about the updated version for NAAC accreditation of the colleges. Dr Mohd Aslam Rather, IQAC member, GDC Doda acted as a technical coordinator and conducted all the proceedings of the workshop. The workshop concluded with the formal vote of thanks by Dr Tasir Sharief Per, IQAC Member, GDC Doda. At the conclusion of the event, attendance and feedback link was shared with the participants.

    In order to equip and inculcate the essential skills for employment ,work and enterpreneurship among the youth ,department of zoology and UGC - NSQF Skilled department under the patronage of principal Dr.Shafqat Hussain Rafiqui and headship of Dr.Ajaz Ahmed Wani organises the painting competation among the students enrolled for the UGC - NSQF certificate courses from poultry ,dairy and apiculture streams.In the competation 35 students participated whereas Miss Sandya Sharma,Anjum kousar from dairy farming and Nafina Anjum from Poultry farming got the Ist,2nd and 3rd position respectively.The online event was organised and adjudged by Dr.Abrar Dev and Dr.Uzma Sherish from dairy and Poultry department.It is pertinent to mention here that three certificate courses viz poultry,dairy and apiculture were managed by department of zoology from UGC in 2020 which is ist of its kind in jammu division colleges and such courses will definately boost the morale of youth towards skill development in Jammu and Kashmir in general and in Chenab region in particular.The programme was co ordinated by Dr.Munish kumar and prof.Imteyaz Ahmed.

    The World Population Day was observed and celebrated by Govt. Degree College, Doda on 11th July, 2021. The theme for World Population Day 2021 is “Rights and Choices are the Answer: Whether baby boom or bust, the solution to shifting fertility rates lies in prioritising all people reproductive health and rights." Every year on July 11, the world observes World Population Day with the goal of highlighting the difficulties created by overpopulation and raising awareness about how overpopulation may harm the ecosystem and progress of humanity. The day also discusses family planning, poverty, sexual
    equality, maternal health, civil rights, and the health concerns that childbearing women confront.
    The event witnessed an extension lecture by Dr. Harmeet Singh Sudan , Assistant Professor ( PoliticalScience ) in GCW , Gandhi Nagar , Jammu . The event was virtually hosted on Google Meet platform by the NCC Naval Wing and NSS , GDC , Doda under the guidance and patronage of Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi , Principal of the college . The event was moderated by Mr. Zain Batt , CTO ,NCC Naval Wing and Dr. Sumit Kotwal NSS ,Programme Officer ,GDC, Doda .The NCC Naval Cadets presented their posters ,poems and Video presentations on the occasion .     Dr.Ajaz Ahmed Wani Head Department of Zoology ,Govt. Degree College Doda is nominated for the Indo Asian Excellence Award 2021 in Zoology by International Multidisciplinary Research Foundation (IMRF)  an organisation affilated with Higher Education and Researh and registered with Govt.of India NITI aayog.The award will be presented via virtual mode on  World Youth Skill Day awards on 15 july 2021. IMRF honours the faculty for their professionalism , commitment to best practices and examplary standards of academics and research revelation in the distinguished academic disciplines.

    It is pertinent to mention here that Dr.Wani has many awards at national and international level and has many publication in his credit.

    Govt. Degree College , Doda organised an activity “Message of Gratitude” on National Doctors’ Day

    1st july,2021:

    The NCC , Naval Unit , Govt. Degree College , Doda organised an activity on  National Doctors’ Day. In India , every year, Ist July is observed as National Doctors’ Day in the memory of legendary physician and second Chief Minister of West Bengal Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy , who had his birth and death anniversary on the same day. The day, commemorated by Indian Medical Association (IMA), is dedicated to all the doctors and healthcare workers who have been serving people by risking their lives. So an activity, “Message of Gratitude” was organised.

    The Cadets were asked to express their gratitude towards doctors by sharing their comments , message and Videos  . Students enthusiastically shared their ideas, views and comments . They also prepared a video message and sent their wishes to the doctors on this special day.Later their messages and videos were sent to doctors and healthcare workers of  Doda  .Also a meeting was organized on Google Meet to discuss the SOP's of COVID-19 .

     Mr. Zain Batt , NCC Navy CTO, GDC , Doda  efficiently organised the activity with the help of NCC Naval Wing Cadets .

    Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi , Principal of the college, lauded the efforts of college staff and volunteers and emphasised upon the importance of such events. He also highlighted the importance of doctors in our lives. He also said doctors are responsible for increased life expectancy and improved well-being in society and though doctors have always played a significant role in the lives of individuals and society as a whole the current pandemic has bought the significance of their role to the forefront. Like a soldier during wartime doctors have gone beyond the call of duty working non-stop to save lives risking their own, especially our government doctors.

     The Cadets who contributed actively in the successful organization of the event include Cadet Randhir , Cadet Joginder , Cadet Aqib Wani .

     To commemorate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav (75 years of India’s Independence) and to celebrate 7th International Yoga Day- 2021, the NSS Unit and NCC, Naval Wing of GDC Doda organized Yoga contest and webinar under the guidance and patronage of Dr. Shafqat Husssain Rafiqi, Principal of the college. He lauded the efforts of students who participated in these activities and also, encouraged them to perform yoga asanas at home to overcome the challenges posed by covid-19 pandemic. The webinar focused upon the importance of Yoga in the current scenario. Dr. Sunil Kumar Salaida, HoD, Department of Hindi, GDC Bishnah delivered the keynote lecture in this event. He gave a brief historical background of the Yoga, various types of Yoga asanas and discussed the relevance Yoga in the present scenario. He also, motivated the students to adopt the yogic way of life for achieving success in all frontiers of life. Prof. Zain Bin Hussain Batt also screened a yoga video compilation contributed by the NCC (Naval Wing) cadets at the end of webinar.
    An online UT level Yoga contest was also organized on this occasion in which students from different colleges of the Union Territory participated by sending their yoga video entries. About 26 yoga videos were received from NCC cadets, NSS volunteers and other college students from different parts of the Union Territory of J&K. They were evaluated by revered Yoga experts namely Dr. Satya Priya (Senior Assistant Professor, Department of Sanskrit, JU) and Sh. Sudershan Kumar (Yoga Instructor, School Education Department). The students were evaluated on the basis of right way of practising the Yoga asanas. The first, second and third prizes were bagged by Priya Chivalry Singh (GCOE), Nishta Kaur (GCW, Parade) and Jagdeep Singh (GDC Doda) respectively. The two consolation prizes were won by Simran Devi (GDC Doda) and Sunakshi Thakur (GCW Parade). Besides, e-certificates were issued to all the participants. The event was coordinated by Dr. Sumit Kotwal, NSS Programme Officer and Prof. Zain Bin Hussain Batt, CTO, NCC (Naval Wing).

    6th May 2021: GDC Doda Organised an online symposium on World Environment day 2021

    DODA: In order to commemorate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav - (75 years of India's Independence) and to celebrate World Environment Day-2021, Green Rangers Eco-Club of the Department of Environmental Sciences organized an online symposium in collaboration with the Department of Zoology and Botany, under the able guidance and patronage of Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi, Principal of the college. The event was based on the theme "Ecosystem Restoration" proposed by United Nations.

    A keynote lecture was delivered by Dr. Tasir Sharief, HoD Botany. He stressed upon the need of individual efforts in the global mission of Ecological Restoration. Students from different colleges enthusiastically participated in the event.

    The symposium as evaluated on the basis of originality of content, presentation and motivational skills.

    The event was adjudicated by Prof. Imteyaz Ahmed, Prof. Akrity Parihar. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd position was secured by Ifra Wani, Atiya Tabassum and Adil Qayum, respectively.

    Dr. Ajaz Ahmed Wani (IQAC Coordinator and HoD Zoology) delivered the valedictory address. He motivated them to plant trees in their vicinity and play their role to protect the pristine ecology of hilly regions.

    The event concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Sumit Kotwal (HoD, Environmental Sciences and NSS Programme Officer). Prof. Purnima Manhas and Prof. Syed Kazim also attended the event.

    22-05-2021. A live interaction on the occasion of World Biodiversity Day-2021 was organized by Department of Environmental Sciences, GDC Doda in collaboration with Department of Zoology under the aegis of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the college. The interaction was based on the theme “We are part of Solution”. This event was organized under the patronage of Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi, Principal of the College. He enlightened the audience with his thought-provoking audio message based on the current theme and also advised the students to exercise special care during the present covid-19 pandemic. Dr. Ajaz Ahmed Wani, Head, Department of Zoology and Coordinator IQAC, Doda delivered the keynote address. He made the students aware of the efforts we need to make to take care of biodiverse resources. Prof. Arvind Kumar, Head, Department of Environmental Sciences, GDC Mahanpur delivered the guest lecture and acquainted the students about global, regional and local biodiversity issues. He shared some success stories in the field of biodiversity management and also interacted with the students to satiate their curiosity. The event was managed by Dr. Sumit Kotwal, Prof. Purnima Manhas and Prof. Akrity Parihar, faculty members of the Department of Environmental Sciences, GDC Doda.

    21-05-2021. An essay writing competition was organized by Internal Quality Assurance cell (IQAC), GDC Doda in collaboration with Department of Computer Sciences. This is in continuation to series of activities to celebrate the 75 years of Indian independence. “Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav” is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate the 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements. The competition was based on the theme “Unity in diversity”. Many students from the Union territory of J&K and other parts of the country participated in this online event. The event was organized under the patronage of Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi, Principal of the college. The event was coordinated by Dr. Ajaz Ahmed Wani, IQAC Coordinator of the college and Prof. Ankush Raj, HoD Computer Sciences. Dr. Sumit Kotwal, HoD Environmental Sciences played a pivotal role in the organization of this event. The essays were judged by prof .Manjeet Singh, department of English, Dr. Tasir Sharief HOD Botany. The merit certificates were issued to the students namely Nazmeen Shoket 2nd sem. of Ramjas college of Delhi university (ist position), Adeeba Roof 6th sem .of Govt.SP college Srinagar (2nd position ) and Atif Raja 6th sem.of GDC Doda (3rd position).Besides participation certificates were also issued to all the  participants.

    Inauguration of UGC-NSQF approved skill based courses in the Dept. of Zoology GDC Doda on 19-04-2021

     Apr 19, 2021: Principal GDC Doda Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi inaugurated the UGC-NSQF approved skill based courses in the Dept. of Zoology GDC Doda on 19-04-2021 in the presence of faculty of Zoology Dept. comprising Head Dept. of Zoology Dr Ajaz A Wani, Asstt. Prof. Imteyaz Ahmed, Dr Neelam Saba and Dr Munish Thakur.
    Principal along with other staff of GDC Doda congratulated the Dept. of Zoology for getting the honor of starting these UGC NSQF approved skill courses in the field of dairy farming, apiculture and poultry farming .
    This is one of the unique and much needed step taken in any college of the Jammu division of the UT of J&K particularly at the time when skill development approach is highly focused at global level including in India.
    This will boost skill development in Chenab region and around. As there is a huge scope for the sectors of Dairy, Poultry and Apiculture in Chenab region because of huge demand; the courses will definitely go a long way in meeting the gap between supply and demand here in the long run. Besides Principal interacted with guest faculty recruited for running these courses.

    On 23rd of March, 2021 Balidan Diwas observed by NCC Army wing at GDC Doda. The Program was conducted in collaboration with the Department of Computer Sciences under the patronage of worthy Principal Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi. The function started with an inaugural session by Dr Sumit Kotwal, HOD Environmental Sciences. Prof Kewal Krishan Manhas, ANO NCC Army wing delivered a lecture on the history and significance of Balidan Diwas. Dr Jamsheed Ahmed, Sub Lt. Navy wing interacted with NCC Cadets(Both Army and Navy) and had a talk on biography on Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Sukhdev and Shaheed Rajguru. Moreover some patriotic songs were sung by all the cadets and other college students as well. It is pertinent to mention here that on this occasion, all the necessary SOP’s regarding covid-19 were taken. In the end, Prof. Ankush Raj, HOD Computer sciences concluded the program with a brief patriotic video played on interactive panel and delivered vote of thanks.

    International Women Day 2021 Observed at Govt Degree College Doda

    The International Women Day was observed with full zeal and enthusiasm at GDC Doda today. The main programme on the theme "choose to challenge" was organized by the Women Development Cell of the college. 
    Dr Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi, Principal GDC Doda was the chief guest on occasion whereas Prof Kaniz Fatima, Rector Kargil Campus of Kashmir University was the resource person. 
    The programme started with a welcome address by Dr Anita Kotwal Coordinator Women Development Cell. Later on Prof Fatima delivered an online lecture wherein she congratulated the college administration for taking an initiative and stressed upon the students to work for the upliftment of the women folk. Moreover, Mr. Ankush Raaj, HOD Computer Sciences was the Technical Coordinator of the event and who provided all kind of  logistics and technical support.
    Later on some girl students delivered speeches and recited self composed poems on women empowerment and women education. 
    In order to develop a sense of competition among the girl students a slogan writing competition was organized in which Ms Shazia Banoo, Ms Ulfat banoo and Ms Sanikha got first, second and third prize respectively.
    In his presidential address, Dr Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi congratulated the organisers and assured them of full support and cooperation in their future endeavours. He urged upon the girl students to participate in co-curricular activities and quoted many examples to inspire them. 
    The stage was managed by a third semester student Ms Muqadaas and the formal vote of thanks was presented by Ms Akrity Parihar Assistant Professor EVS. 
    Others who were present on the occasion are  Ms Upma Kuumari HoD Hindi, Ms Purnima Assistant Professor EVS and Ms Preeti Assistant Professor Education.

    Govt. Degree College Doda in collaboration with National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) Jammu, Main Campus University of Jammu inaugurated Computer Skill Course titled as “Certification course in Data Entry and Office Automation”.

    With an objective not to produce the graduates only but to produce skilled graduates the Principal Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi with his gracious presence inaugurated the course and Prof Ankush Raj, Nodal officer/Course Coordinator welcome the students with very warm welcome address and them full guidance and support. For the course a batch of 36 students have been registered on first come first serve basis. The duration of the course will be 135 notional hours.It is pertinent to mention here that Govt. Degree College has signed an MOU with NIELIT Jammu for the said course. Mr. Vikar Sareen is the course trainer appointed by NIELIT Jammu.

    Prof. Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi, Principal of the college motivated all the students registered for the course and wished them for their bright future. On the occasion Prof Ankush Raj (HoD Computer Science), Nodal officer of the course, Dr. Ajaz A Wani (HOD Zoology), Prof. K K Manhas (HoD Education), Mr. Joginder Singh, Assistant Lecturer (Computer Applications) and Ms.Priyanka Sharma, Assistant Lecturer (Computer Applications) were also present.

    A slogan writing competition and a symposium were organised by Social Welfare Department in collaboration with GDC Doda.
     Dr-Shafqat Rafiqi Principal GDC Doda was the Chief Guest on the occasion whereas Mr Zubair  Ahmed District Social Welfare Officer Doda was the Guest of Honour. Mr Babu Ram Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Doda was the special guest on this occasion. 
    The event was organised and managed by Dr Jamsheed Ahmad. Dr Tasir Sharief HoD Botany delivered an expert lecture on the given theme. 
    In slogan writing competition Ms Muskan, Ms Atiya and Ms Ifra got first, second and third prize respectively whereas in symposium Ms Ifra Wani, Mr Jagdeep Singh and Ms Muskan secured first, second and third rank respectively. 
    Mr KK Manhas HoD Education, Ms Upma Kumari HoD Hindi, nd Dr Tasir HoD Botany judged the symposium whereas Dr Anita HoD Philosophy, Dr Akhtar HoD Urdu and Mr Imtiaz Ahmed AP Zoology evaluated the slogans written by the participants.

    Research proposal sanctioned to Dr. Ajaz Ahmed Wani Head Dept .of Zoology GDC Doda BY HED Govt.of Jammu and Kashmir on "Study on Knowledge,Survey and Awareness of Tuberculosis in Chenab region of Jammu and Kashmir" .Dr. Wani has published 26 research papers particularly during lockdown and has many national and international award in his credit.


    GDC Doda organises Scholarship awareness workshop

    In order to provide awareness  to the students regarding different scholarship schemes ,an online interactive session was conducted.The program was conducted by the ageis of scholarship and financial aid committee of the college under the patronage of principal Dr.Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi .In his address he congragulated the convener of scholarship Dr. Ajaz Ahmed wani (HOD Zoology) and other members Dr. Mohd. Aslam, Dr.Tasir Shrief ,Prof Syed  kazim , Prof.Imteyaz Ahmed and Prof Zain Butt   even  in this pandemic situation helps  in verification of PMSSS -AICTE students at the facilitation centre GDC Doda ,where 487 students were verified which is heighest in any facilitation centre of Chenab region during session 2020-21.He also advised the deserving students to avail maximum benefit of various scholarship schemes available which can overcome their economic hurdles during their studies.
    Dr. Ajaz convener discussed in detail of various centrally sponsored schemes such as Post matric minority scholarship ,merit cum means scholarship and state sponsored schemes such as scholarship for SC/ST/OBC/PHC  and science and technology merit scholarship.


    An online workshop on “Internet and its applications” was organized by the Training and Placement Cell of Government Degree College, Doda on 25th of dec 2020.

    An online workshop on “Internet and its applications” was organized by the Training and Placement Cell of Government Degree College, Doda. The event was organized under the mentorship of Worthy Principal of the college, Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqui. About 40 college students of 1st, 3rd and 5th Semesters, joined the event to make themselves aware about the various job opportunities in the corporate sector. Prof. Ankush Raj, Head, Department of Computer Applications was invited as Resource person for the event. He has vast teaching experience both at the Undergraduate and Postgraduate level. The resource person familiarized the students about the vast applications of internet and also, made them aware about various job oriented and higher education websites. The websites included Swayam portal, JKSSB and JKPSC etc. The participants enthusiastically participated in event and cleared their doubts about these websites. The event was organized by Dr. Sumit Kotwal, Convenor, Training and Placement Cell, GDC Doda. The event was conducted under the supervision by Prof. Bashir Ahmed (District Coordinator, Career Counselling-Cum-Psychosocial and Placement Cell, Doda).




    Dr. Ajaz A Wani awarded with D.lit

    Dr Ajaz Ahmed Wani, Head of Department of Zoology Government Degree College Doda has been awarded with Doctor of Literature (D.Lit) by United Nations University for Global Peace USA in a convention held at Kolkata on December 19.
    The event was jointly organised by International Benevolent Research Foundation, Academy of Universal Global Peace USA and United Nations University for Global Peace USA.
    It is pertinent to mention here that with this achievement, he has become first person from the Chenab Region to be awarded with this award. He has published 24 research papers in both peer reviewed national and international journals particular lockdown.


    GDC Doda Observes World AIDS Day 2020

    Doda::The Red Ribbon Club GDC Doda in collaboration with the J&K AIDS Control Society, Department of Health and Medical Education, Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir observed the World AIDS Day 2020.The event was observed through online mode to aware the students about the symptoms and prevention of HIV/AIDS and COVID- 19. The aim was to acquaint the students and general masses with the preventive measures they need to adopt as responsible citizens to save themselves from these deadly diseases. In this regard a painting competition on the theme "HIV/AIDS and COVID- 19: Global Solidarity and Shared Responsibility" was organised under the supervision of Dr Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi Principal GDC Doda. Dr Jamsheed Ahmad Nodal Officer Red Ribbon Club was the convener of the event whereas Prof Bashir Ahmed was the co-convener. The paintings were judged by Dr Tasir Sharief HoD Botany, Prof Zain Ul Abideen Banday HoD Political Science and Prof Rakesh Kumar Assistant Professor Physics. 
    Students from various schools and colleges participated in the event through digital mode. 
    Tehreen Khan from Green Model Hr School Doda and Habib Ahmed from GDC Doda secured third and second position respectively whereas the first prize was won by Sabika Fani of GDC Doda.


    Govt Degree College Doda Celebrates International Youth Day 2020

    To celebrate International Youth Day-2020 and in its pursuit to improve the writing and comprehension skills of the students, IQAC unit of Government Degree College, Doda, organized a UT level Essay competition based on the theme “Contribution of youth in transformation of education”. 

    The competition was organized under the able leadership of Worthy Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education Department and Chief Patron of the event, Jenab Talat Parvez Rohella. Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqui, Patron of the event and Principal, Government Degree College, Doda has always encouraged the faculty of his institution to organize events relevant to the welfare of student community. 

    A total of 84 participants sent their entries to the event from diverse parts of the Union territory. The first, second and third prizes in the essay writing competition were bagged by Ms. Ashika Bajwa (GCOE, Jammu), Mr. Zamrud Hamid (University of Kashmir) and Ms. Sumita Jamwal (GCOE, Jammu), respectively. Ashfaq Ahmed Magray (FIET, U.P), Ruksana Ramzan (GCW, Baramulla) and Akshay Kumar (GDC, Doda), secured the first, second and third prizes in the slogan writing event, respectively. The participants were adjudged based on their original ideas, content, presentation skills and relevance to the theme. Prof. Bashir Ahmed, HoD, Physics, Dr. Sumit Kotwal, HoD, Environmental Sciences and Prof. Imteyaz Ahmed, Assistant Professor, Zoology acted as jury members in the said event. 

    The event was coordinated by Dr. Ajaz Ahmed Wani (Convener IQAC and HoD, Zoology) and  Prof. Ankush Raj (HoD Computer Science and IQAC member)
    E-certificates and merit certificates were issued to the winners and participants.

    Dr. Ajaz Ahmed Wani Head Department of Zoology Govt.Degree College Doda taking the advantage of lockdown has published 16 paper ind different journals of national and international repute ,some of the important publication are impact of covid- 19 lockdown on Indian Ecomomy ,Climate Agriculture ,mental health  and suicidal risk ,an outbreak of major pandemic in the light of Islam,decline of vulture population of Chenab region of Jammu and Kashmir etc. and more are yet to come.Besides Dr. Wani has also attended more than 30 national and international webinars and and also delivered lecture .It is pertinent to mention here  that he has recieved many awards at national and international level.


    Department of Computer Science sucessfully completed ITQuiz on 28-05-2020

    The Department of Computer Science, Govt Degree College Doda (J&K) under the guidance of Dr Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi has successfully completed online IT quiz on 28-05-2020. More than a hundred students including fifteen students from other states and union territories of the country participated in this quiz and received their participation e - certificates after scoring minimum passing percentage. It is worth to mention here that amid covid lockdown, the department is promoting online education and apart from online classes, more than 15 online test series had already been conducted based on university curriculum.
    Moreover, the quiz was coordinated by Prof. Ankush Raaj, HOD Computer Science, GDC Doda.





    National Science Day 2020 was celebrated at GDC Doda.

     Department of Zoology GDC Doda celebrated National Science Day 2020. Principal Dr Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi presided over the event. Science Technology and Innovation Council , Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of J&K sponsored the whole event.
    The program began with the introductory speech of HOD Zoology Dr Ajaz A Wani. Principal  also spoke on the occasion highlighting the role of woman in science. He encouraged the students particularly female candidates to be an active contributor to the field of science. He also lauded the role of Department of Zoology for carrying out such wonderful events. Symposium on the topic of ''Woman as an entrepreneur in the field of Science and Technology in present scenario'' was the main program of the day.  Many students participated in the symposium and highlighted the role of woman as an entrepreneur in science. A short skit/Play after sympoum was also part of the program. Then prize cum certificate distribution was carried out. Meenakshi Devi, Suhail Bashir and Priyanka Devi were adjudged as first, second and third in essay writing competition whereas  Kousar Ishaq lone, Ramiz Ahmed and Paryag Kumari got first, second and third prizes in painting competition. Essay writing and painting competitions were carried out a day before and were adjudged by Prof. Bashir Ahmed, Dr Jamsheed Ahmed , Prof. Ankush Raj and Dr. Aslam Rather, Prof. Mohd Younis with Dr Manish Thakur . In symposium Suhail Bashir, Danish Banday received first and second prizes  whereas Mumtaz Hussain and Richa Devi got 3rd prizes. Dr. Sumit Kotwal, Prof. Imteyaz Ahmed and Prof. Mohd. Younis acted as the jury. Faculty members present on the occasion were Prof. Babu Ram, Prof. Bashir Ahmed, Dr Akhter Hussain, Dr Imtiaz Ahmed, Dr. Anayat Ullqh Nadwi , Prof. Zain Batt, prof. Zain Banday and Dr Ateed Khawar. Whole event was coordinated by Prof. Imteyaz Ahmed. Program ended with the vote of thanks by Dr Munish Thakur.


    Department of Zoology and Medical College Doda signed a memorandum of understanding on 06-03-2020

    On the suggestion of worthy Secretary Higher Education Sh. Talat Parvez Rohella, Department of Higher Education Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir during his medain visit to chenab region in june 2019 and the able guidence and supervision of Principal Dr. Shafquet Hussain Rafiqi, Department of Zoology and Medical College Doda signed a memorandum of understanding on 6-3-2020 frist of its kind in Jammu and Kashmir Colleges.The MOU is signed with the objective of sharing the knowldge between the institutes and establishing a vibrant academic collaboration by undertaking joint activities in their respective feilds of research and education. Moreover to seek mutual advice and support in planning and executing programmes, promoting excellence  in research and encourage regular visit of faculty members of either instution to interact through different activities such seminars/conferences/workshops etc and to interact students of either institutions.This MOU was signed between Principal GMC Doda Dr.Tariq Pervaiz Azad and  Dr.Ajaz Ahmed Wani Head Deptt.of Zoology GDC Doda. Dr Shoket Ahmed Registerer GMC Doda and Dr. Manish Thakur deptt. of zoology were also present on the occasion.

    Dr Ajaz Ahmed Wani Head Department of Zoology Govt.Degree College Doda was awarded the Environmentalist Award at World Environment Summit 2020 organised by Environment and Social Development Association at Vallahbahi Patel Chest Institute University of Delhi on 18-19 Jan. 2020.The award which consists of a memento and shawl was presented to Dr Wani by Hon'ble Justice Swatanter Kumar former Chairman National Green Tribunal New Delhi in presence of Prof P B Sharma Vice Chancellor Amity University, Dr Markanday Rai Chancellor IGTAMS University Arunachal Pradesh and Senior Advisor UN Habitat, Environmental Activist Padamshree M.C Metha, Chairman WES and Principal Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar College Delhi Dr GK Arora and Dr Jatinder Nagar Organising Secretary. In the Summit Dr Wani co-chaired a technical session and also delivered a talk. The summit was attended by foreign delegates from five countries including the US, Saudi Arabia, Nepal and Bangladesh.It is pertinent to mention here that Dr Wani was also confered fellowship award by GESA at Kanpur International Conference on 22nd Dec.2019.



    Govt Degree College Doda hosts Alumni Meet 2019

    In order to bridge the gap between the alumni and their Alma mater and to inspire the students of the college the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Govt Degree College Doda organised Alumni Meet 2019 on 11 December. The meet was organised under the supervision of Dr Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi, Principal GDC Doda. The main function was held in the seminar hall of the college and was attended by more than one hundred alumni. It is pertinent to mention here that GDC Doda was established in the year 1989 and its alumni hold important positions in government as well as private sector.
    The event was managed by Dr Jamsheed Ahmad, Convener Alumni Committee and other faculty members.

    Awareness Programme on Drug Abuse organised at Govt Degree College Doda

    Today on 25th of June-2019, District Police Doda in collaboration with HEALTH & ECO CLUB of GDC Doda organized an awareness programme on “DRUG ABUSE” at Govt Degree College Doda. A power point presentation and a video showing Drug Abuse, its causes, consequences and treatment was shown to the students of GDC Doda. The main objective of the programme was to draw the attention of students of GDC Doda with regard to Drug Abuse. Programme was held under the overall supervision of SSP Doda Sh Shabir Ahmed Malik, and was organised by ASP Hqrs Doda Shri. Master Popsy. The programme was attended by Sh. Shafqat Rafiqui, Principal Govt. Degree College Doda, Prof. Babu Ram, HOD Chemistry, Dr. Akhtar Hussain, Dr. Imtiyaz Ahmed, Prof. Bashir Ahmed, Manoj Kumar, Dy.SP Hqrs. Doda, Sh.     A Combined Graduate level examination 2013 (CGL 13) was conducted by the Staff Selection Commission New Delhi on 21-4-2013 under the supervision of principal GDC Doda and Prof Z.A. Hashmi at GDC DODA. where number of students from states other than J&K also participated.

    Doda is one of the districts of J&K. The district covers a total area of 11,691 sq.km. It is considered to be the 3rd largest district in the state with respect to its land area, the first two being Leh and Kargil.

       GDC Doda organises International Conference A two day international conference on 'The Message of Benevolence, Love and Peace in Indo-Pak Urdu Literature' was inaugurated today at Govt Degree College Doda. It is pertinent to mention here that such an international conference is being organised for the first time in erstwhile District Doda. This historic step was taken by the department of Urdu under the supervision of Dr Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi Principal GDC Doda. The highlight of the last session of the conference was the cultural programme presented by Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Sub Office Doda. The jam packed hall was mesmerized by the performances of renowned singers Mr Farooq Khokhar and Mohsin Dilshad. At the end of the programme vote of thanks was presented by Dr Javaid Iqbal Tramboo, Convener of the conference.

      International Youth Day celebrated by Red Ribbon Club GDC Doda 


      Doda::The anniversary of Surgical Strike Day was celebrated as Parakram Parv at GDC Doda today. Under the overall supervision of Dr Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi Principal GDC Doda. The celebrations started with a special parade by the NCC Naval and Army Wing under the command of ANOs Prof Babu Ram and Dr Jamsheed Ahmad. After the parade the students took a pledge of their support to the armed forces of the country.  On this occasion motivational speeches by NCC officers were delivered.The highlights of the celebrations were the patriotic songs sung by the cadets and screening of the movie Lakshya. The proceeding of the programme was conducted by Naval Wing senior under officer Danish Banday.

     Joint Secretary UGC along with Director Colleges, Higher education J&K visits Govt Degree Doda Joint Secretary University Grants Commission New Delhi Dr Urmila Devi along with Director Colleges Jammu and Kashmir Dr Zahoor Ahmed Chatt and Director Planning Higher Education Department visited GDC Doda. The team of the officers was formally received and welcomed by the principal of the college Dr Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi. They were given a guard of honour by the NCC cadets of the college. In this address the principal apprised the team about the student enrollment, staff profile and start of PG classes in college. He expressed his satisfaction about the academic and co curricular atmosphere of the institution. He further informed the team about the lack of infrastructure and demanded that atleast six classrooms and an auditorium should be constructed at earliest. During her interaction with the faculty of the college Dr Urmila Devi emphasized on the need of boarding and lodging facilities especially for the girl students. She laid stress on the introduction of the latest teaching pedagogies and advised the faculty to acquaint the students with the latest developments happening across the globe. Later on the team along with the principal visited the different departments of the college and expressed their satisfaction on the maintenance of a clean and green campus. They appreciated the principal and assured all possible support and cooperation.

     EXTENSION LECTURE ON 'CAREER IN CIVIL SERVICES' ORGANISED AT GOVT DEGREE COLLEGE DODA Guidance/Career Counseling Cell in collaboration with Debate/Seminar Committee of GDC Doda organised an extension lecture on the theme 'Career in Civil Services'. Zuhaib Hassan (DySP Traffic Doda-Kishtwar Axis) and Nayeem Ahmed (Tehsildar Land Records Regional Director Office Doda) delivered detailed lectures on the given topic. The brain storming lectures were followed by an interactive question-answer session with the students of the college. Principal GDC Doda Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi was the chief guest and Dr Jamsheed Ahmad conducted the proceedings of the event. In his address the Principal of the college thanked the resource persons and assured the students that more programmes shall be organised in future. He further congratulated the faculty of the college for this initiative. Formal Vote of Thanks was presented by Prof. Ashraf Hussain. The extension lecture was a part of the series of awareness and counselling programmes which are regularly organised by the college for the personality development of the students.


 GDC Doda Celebrates World Environment Day, 5th June, 2018 One day symposium and painting competition on the theme “Plastic Waste-Reuse it or Refuse it” was organised at Govt. Degree College, Doda on the occasion of World Environment Day, 2018. The day began with the cleanliness drive which was conducted within the college campus with the help of students. The NCC and NSS volunteers of the college also participated in this drive. The programme began with the welcome address by Dr. Sumit Kotwal, Head, Department of Environmental Sciences, GDC, Doda (Organizing Secretary of the event). He apprised the audience about main theme and significance of the event. He stressed upon the individual attention and action for the management of plastic waste. It was followed by invited lectures by Dr. Aijaz Ahmed Wani (HoD, Department of Zoology) and Dr. Tasir Sharief (Head, Department of Botany). Students of the college made detailed deliberations on the problem of plastic waste and suggested various remedial measures for the redressal of this grave environmental concern. The students also highlighted various environmental hazards in their paintings. Dr. Aijaz Ahmed Wani, Prof. Falak, Dr. Akhter Hussain and Dr. Sumit Kotwal acted as Jury for the Symposium competition while Prof. K.K. Manhas, Dr. Wahid Khawar Balwan, Prof. Rakesh Kumar and Dr. Tasir Sharief judged the painting event. Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqui, Principal of the college and Chief Guest on the occasion, stressed upon the role of youth in achieving sustainable development goals. He also motivated the students of the college to come forward and fulfil the dreams of their parents. He also emphasized upon the role of young minds in shaping the future of country. At the conclusion of the event, prizes were distributed among the winners. 1 st , 2 nd and 3 rd prizes in Symposium event were bagged by Ms. Purvashi Rana Mr. Mumtaaz Hussain, and Mr. Nawaz Hussain, respectively. Similarly, in painting event, the prizes were won by Ms. Alima Suhrawardy, Mr. Irfan Ahmed and Mr. Amir Hussain, respectively. Others who were present on occasion included Dr. Jamsheed, Prof. Ankush Raj, Dr. Anayatullah Wani, Dr. Imtiyaz Ahmed, Prof. Preeti Devi, Prof. Zain-Ul-Abdeen Banday, Prof. Zain Butt, Prof. Younis Rashid, Lecturer Yashvardhan Seth, Lecturer Santosh, and Lecturer Radhika. Mr. Nawaz Hussain, student of 1 st semester conducted proceedings of the event. The vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Akrity Parihar, Assistant Professor, and Department of Environmental Sciences. She thanked the Chief Guest, faculty members and students for their valuable contribution.


 Prof. R. D. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu today visited Govt. Degree College Doda. The Vice Chancellor was extended warm welcome by the Principal, staff and students of the college and also offered guard of Honor under the supervision of NCC Officer Prof. Babu Ram. The visit was marked by a grand event and a lecture by the Vice Chancellor to the students of the college on the growing relevance of Moral values. The Vice Chancellor also interacted with the students and staff of the college. During the interaction, the Vice Chancellor was apprised of all the issues being faced by the college. Prof. Sharma also responded to the various queries posed by the students during the interactions. On this occasion, the Principal of the College also gave a brief overview of the college. The Vice Chancellor applauded the work and efforts of the Principal, the faculty and the students and delivered a brainstorming lecture. The entire faculty of the college and students were present at the event. The college and the civil society hailed the maiden visit of Prof. R.D. Sharma as a glorious moment for the college.   1) Programme on Digital Launch of RUSA at GDC, Doda

Govt degree college doda organised a program to witness the digital launch of RUSA Website under the able guidance of Dr. R K Raina,Principal GDC Doda. The Rashtriya Uchatar Shiksha Abhiyan(RUSA), under the aegis of the ministry of Human Resource Development launched its online portal and mobile app toady on April 17, 2017 by HRD minster Shri Prakash Javadekar. The launch was witnessed by Dr. N K Raina, Principal GDC doda,Prof. babu ram ,Prof. Yasar Arafat, Prof. Mohd Ashraf, Prof. Ankush Raj,Prof. Bashir Ahmed , Prof Ashwani kumar and students. Prof. Ankush Raj and Prof. Mohd. Ashraf organised and coordidated this program in the college's Seminar Hall.
